Church Bell Towers - SteemUSA

It was a dreary and windy day; the rain fell in spatterings - heavy, and then light, with enough cloud to dull the light of a hidden mid day sun in Newark, Delaware (for it is here in which my photos lie) and enough downpour to require a covering for a camera.

So, yes, I took my camera out with me yesterday to engage in my own @steemusa lightning photo challenge to take photos of church bell towers. Indeed, it was raining, enough that I had to use my camera's condom (or, if you prefer, a waterproof housing) to keep it from getting wet. It was the first time I used it and it did, indeed, keep the camera from getting wet. What it did not do, however, was keep me from getting wet. There are times I enjoy being wet. This was not one.

One result was that I think I was able to capture some good ambience of two particular church tops. The flip side is that I was able to capture only two particular church tops (albeit from different angles) and without a good long-distance picture.

Here you can see raindrops hitting the lens. I don't really mind the glass on the lens getting wet. That can dry.

And with the right angle the clouds look really neat. This particular church has a very large cemetery with it, and I would have liked to have gotten some more pictures, but I was getting soaked. I'll need to go back at another time.

This second church is on Main Street and has been here I think since the dawn of time, or very close to it. It's possibly nearly as old as the city.

The old bell tower on this church has seen better days. I seem to recall people from the church having a discussion a number of years ago about getting it repaired, but deciding they didn't have the money for it. It's a shame because I would like to hear it ring.
