Are you part of this tribe? I have some Mi'kmaq in me but since I was raised in the States I wasn't raised in the culture at all.

That's really cool that you are of Indigenous heritage. Too bad you've been unable to connect with the Elders and traditions of your roots. Though, if i am not mistaken, you are Druid? And, there's likely many parallels between the two anscestories in their practices. Likely same as my earth based traditions -- which were totally lost who knows how many generations ago. Yet, no doubt it's in my dna. Through wanting and praying i have been able to find some tools that work. I am not part of the tribe. I am as white as they come being of Swedish/German, scotish/ Irsish/ English & French decent. But, I have been welcomed into a Cree lineage through my mentors, and Elders so i choose to learn and follow Cree protocols in my work. I have an auntie who is also Cree and I grew up being very close to the land and all the supporting elements of the wild. I've been following this girl for quite a while now she creates the most beautiful ribbon skirts and she posts such powerfully inspirational and potent healing stuff on fb consistently. Never wavering i find it grounding and such a blessing to follow. And, here she's from the area where i grew up! Can't help but feel kindred. I hope we can arrange a meeting next time I am there. I'd love to gift my Elder one of her skirts. Have been thinking of it for a few years now! Time to get on it.

I am a Druid, yeah. I'm by far mostly Celtic ancestrally. It was my French ancestor who married by Mi'kmaq ancestor, but they were Catholic - or at least their child was raised Catholic - and apparently a lot of Mi'kmaq people are still Catholic today. I was raised Catholic too. I don't know what the laws were/are in Canada, but here in the States I think the law made it illegal to perform any indigenous ritual until the 70s - when I was born! The States literally modeled themselves after Rome, and it shows. Rome made a point of killing Druids, because if you kill off the history, law, religion, etc., and then give it a few generations, people identify as Roman instead of as a conquered people who might rise up in rebellion. By the time Rome fell, most of Europe couldn't remember any other culture they had once had. Similarly, America not only massacred so many First Nations, but they did things like that law banning ceremonies and ripping kids from families and putting them in residential schools and banning them from speaking their native tongue and ...killing the culture, so they would identify as American, or at least that's what they were obviously trying for. Fucking imperialism.

The smiles are so very awesome! :) we are in an amazing time to be alive for sure! I hope you have a great day!:)
