STUDY TO BE QUIET
KJV- 1 Thessa. 41-12 - Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
The long passage reveals the way God requires us to walk.
There is truly a way to walk and please the Lord, and that is what we as Christians live for.
Paul was exhorting the Thessalonian Christians to abound more and more in walking with God and to please Him. He then went further, pointing out the things which they ought to do, one of which is; "And that ye study to be quiet...."
We must endeavor to live quietly and peacefully. This is not temperamental quietness, it is not the issue of being an introvert or extrovert now. The Christian introvert or extrovert person ought to be spirit controlled.
The truth is that a spiritual person is not a talkative person. There is a serious leakage of spiritual power that goes with talkativeness.
Its obviously true that a leakage of any precious thing can lead to a great loss, for example; think of blood leakage or oil leakage even water leakage.
Do you have oversight over your life that will keep you alert and make you to easily detect any leakage if there is any in your life?
Must you really comment on everything?
Why must you comment all the time, even when you lack a relevant contribution to the point being discussed?
There is no way one can be knowledgeable in all things.
Do you make comments just to be heard or to make a positive impact?
Yes! There is freedom of speech, we agree, but for you as a Christian that is under the control of the Holy Spirit. Stop this persistent grieving of the Holy Spirit by your careless talks and Comments
Study! But then Study To Be Quiet
