The quest for exceptionality | Edition One

in #curating6 years ago (edited)

Hello, dear readers.

If you have been following my not-so-consistent blog, you are probably expecting my first work of fiction ever posted on Steemit. I'm sorry, today is not the day, but I will share it with you soon! If you are new here, I hope you feel comfortable and stay.

These are hard times (no, I won't talk about the drop in the Steem value, or about the drop in my self-esteem), but I believe in the high importance of what we, the content creators and the curators, are doing here. Therefore, I will keep contributing in the best way I can: finding what makes me unique. I intend to make you participants of my journey, whether as receivers or as inspiration givers.

Having said that, I state here that I have made a commitment with myself. I will write an author showcase of my own. This humble initiative is to give some more exposure, recognition, and appreciation to those amazing persons I cross paths with, being a Curie curator. Without further to add, here is the first edition.

Peter Dinklage, Retrato hiperrealista

Property of @connor-russo

Joel González, better known as @connor-russo, is an artist located in Mérida, Venezuela. He has had a remarkable progress on his artworks since he joined the platform, in May 2018.

A while ago, he brought a hyperrealistic portrait of the well-known actor Peter Dinklage, with a very detailed process included. This find really made me feel excited because he had no previous Curie upvotes. I invite you to follow him and admire his growing talent as I do.

A Day With A Lineman #26 ~Wheat Harvest Put on Hold~

Property of @jlsplatts

Jeff Splattstoesser, better known as @jlsplatts, is a high-voltage journeyman lineman located in Washington, USA. He has been active on the platform since August 2017. His "a day with a lineman" series presents the unexpected, difficult and somehow exceptional scenarios that he encounters on his daily work as a guardian of the community electric transmission lines.

With surgical details and a touch of humor, he brought us his most recent case: an old farmer who had a "close encounter of the power pole kind". His explanations are really interesting and they have the potential to awaken curiosity about the world of power lines and transformer. He is one of those very consistent and unrewarded authors that contribute to the platform in more that one way.

The Grim Death | Original story by @aidarojaswriter - Part One

Property of @aidarojaswriter

Aida Rojas is a talented Venezuelan musician with a clear desire of expressing her soul in the best possible way. She joined Steemit in August 2017. As well as creating her own music, she has explored poetry, painting, photography; different forms of art. She is also part of some of the most promising projects of the hispanic community: @la-colmena, a curation channel focused on finding great quality content written in spanish, and @el-arca, a space of encountering and development for artists of all kinds.

A while ago, she brought us something different: a short story she wrote when she was 13 years old. It's inspired by the events that led to John Lennon's death, accompanied by some original watercolors (made by her and an awesome friend, @exzorltg) to match with the text. Without any spoilers, I will let you enjoy the content.

The theater, a mystical place to photograph.

Property of @segapema

Sergio Pérez, or @segapema, is an amazing Venezuelan photographer. He is also a talented theater actor. He joined the platform in June 2018, and I find all of the projects he has shared of great value.

A while ago, he brought us some of his points of view on the theatrical space he was involved with. He did an incredible job by capturing brief, raw and moving moments of a play, "Carne de mi carne" by Dairo Piñeres, in a unique way. With no further introduction, let yourself be immersed in his outstanding photographs.
