AAA Review - Stranger Things 3

The third season of Stranger Things was released on Netflix a few days ago and I managed to catch it in double quick time. The story continues from the previous 2 seasons with the Mind Flayer alien creature back to haunt the small town of Hawkins.

Quick Plot

The kids of Stranger Things had grown into teenagers now and romance is blossoming among the group. Much of the storyline deals with the teens bickering. A new shopping mall had opened in Hawkins where we soon discover a secret facility in it used by the Russians. They were attempting to open the door to the other world, the gate that was closed by Eleven in season 2.

The Mind Flayer is now invading the town infecting people and controlling their minds. The kids soon discover this and attempt to stop the Mind Flayer. At the same time, another group were sneaking into the Russians secret facility to stop them from further opening the gate.

Finally, the kids, with the help of Hopper the Chief of Police, were successful again in closing the gate and destroying the Russians secret plot at the same time. Hopper dies in the process of stopping the Russians.

Review

Stranger Things 3 had only been released for a few days but had more than 40 million viewerships now, breaking every Netflix record. I think the previous 2 seasons were really good and people were really looking forward to this season. However, I was rather disappointed with it.

There were so many plot holes in season 3 that went unexplained. Like how did an army of Russians (in their uniforms) build such a huge facility in a US town. How did they find out about the gateway. How can an overweight cop with a bunch of kids invade and destroy a Russians military facility just like that. Also, where did the huge spider creature came from? It can't be the gateway since it would have destroyed the Russians. And what happens to all those people who were mind-controlled? I was expecting some kind of battle between the kids and these people, but it didn't happen.

Unlike the previous 2 seasons, Stranger Things 3 did not have the mystery factor, you kind of know exactly how it will end.

This season also focus too much on the teenagers romance, especially between Eleven and Mike. Totally uninteresting. I prefer the bromance of the investigator and the Russian scientist.

Overall, I did not quite enjoyed season 3 as much as season 1 and 2. I heard there might be a season 4 and 5 and I hope it will be better.
