무기의 그늘에서 돈의 꽃이 활짝 피어납니다. 국가의 흥망성쇠와 살육은 정치적인 논리로 미화되고 전쟁의 전리품은 절대 지지 않는 승자, 선진국이 챙겨갑니다. 누구나 대의명분을 이야기하지만 전쟁의 본질은 경제적인 이유에 있습니다. 돈은 전쟁에서 피어나는 가장 아름다운 꽃입니다.

어느날 동유럽에서 4조원 규모의 무기가 사라집니다. 그리고 갑자기 사라진 무기들은 무기 밀매상에 의해 유통되기 시작합니다. 실제 전설적인 무기상의 실화를 바탕으로 만들어진 이야기는 현실감 넘치게 화면을 가득 채우고 있습니다.

유리 올로노프는 전쟁의 제왕이라 불리며 무기 밀매상중 독보적인 위치를 차지하고 있는 인물입니다. 전세계 분쟁과 전쟁이 끝이지 않는 지역에 무기를 공급하는 유리. 그는 독재자, 무기 밀매상, 전쟁광등 상대를 가리지 않고 무기를 제공합니다.

차츰 그의 행적을 눈치채기 시작하는 인터폴로부터 집중 감시를 받게 되는 유리, 하지만 그는 자신을 조여오는 수사망에 오히려 짜릿한 쾌감을 느끼며 자신의 일에 더욱 매진하게 됩니다.

친동생까지 끌어들이며 사업을 확장해 나가는 유리, 그런데 그는 동생이 무기 거래상이 지켜야할 거래룰을 어겨 자신 앞에서 무참히 살해 당하는 일을 경험하게 됩니다.

국가적인 묵인하에 조용히 진행되는 암거래, 유리가 다루는 돈의 액수만큼 큰 손들의 부는 증가하게 됩니다. 보호화 암묵속에 천천히 자신의 세를 넓혀가는 그에게는 세상이 모두 그의 시장입니다.

영화는 평화의 이면에 숨겨진 더러운 길을 추적해 나갑니다. 매춘과 마약처럼 가장 지저분한 곳에서 피어나는 무기밀매, 하지만 자본은 인성을 타자화시키고 오직 이득만을 쫓아갑니다.

군수산업을 떠받치고 있는 보이지 않는 시장, 영화는 어쩌면 전세계에서 가장 큰 시장일지도 모르는 무기 밀매 시장을 주인공 유리의 나레이션을 통해 샅샅히 고발하고 있습니다.

부인이 한국인이어서 한국사람들은 케서방이라고 부릅니다. 니콜라스 케이지가 주인공 유리 역을 맡았습니다. 그리고 에단 호크가 유리를 쫓는 인터폴 요원으로 활약하고 있습니다.
