The idea of the Like for Like

When I first came into Steemit one of the things that I saw in comments were people leaving comments of upvoting me and then telling me to follow them as they followed me.

As new to the platform I was happy to receive a new follower. Little did I know that it was a ruse just to get others to follow that person and most likely did not even follow me.

This I learned later that it was a practiced that was frowned on in this platform. It can be a reason for someone to flag someone.

This molded how I viewed Spam and that I didn't like it. I often get salty when people leave Spam in my posts and had at one point was actively flagging it.

Yet in Steemit it still exists even if the reputation of the person gets zeroed out they can still post a Spammy comment but it will be hidden unless you click on the reveal next to it.

So why can't we remove these accounts. Most likely they don't bring in any value to the platform and invest.

They in fact usually just Spam so that they might get a follow and then use their account as one of those countless bot service that says they have 11k followers and will upvote you for a certain SBD or Steem amount.

They can also just be hoping for an upvote.

Then people just felt it was a normal occurrence and stopped caring about it. This made me sad because it is a form of abuse.

I really feel bad about it and exasperate me that it's not being handled. Maybe people think that it's not a big deal and although the resource credits have made some dent to spammers yet it also affected smaller accounts.
