My Actifit Report Card: March 3 2019
Today was Hina Matsuri Day in Japan, often translated as Girls’ Day.
I played memory with my daughter and son while eating a special kind of rice cracker made specifically for this day and listening to a music box.
In the evening I got some steps in playing soccer with my kids and taking them on a short bike ride. Then, after dinner, I went on my usual run. 
I like learning a bit about the culture from your posts. Very interesting and thank you.
This is an old, old holiday. I think it’s been practiced in Japan for over a thousand years (in eveloving forms) and was brought here from China. Originally, dolls were made and floated out to sea or down stream in the hopes that a child’s misfortunes or pending illnesses would be transferred to the dolls and carried away. Now, the dolls are kept (often for a lifetime I think) and put on display for a short period of time leading up to March 3. They are supposed to be put away immediately after this date.
