In my Actifit post yesterday I talked about how the day started somewhat poorly for me, but I was hoping things would get better when my brother, my niece, and I went to the parks during normal Community Day hours (when the bonuses were active) to play Pokémon Go. My day definitely got a lot better when we did that.

My goal for the day had been to catch a shiny Dratini since I didn’t have one, and I happened to encounter one just after we parked the car, before I even got outside. With my goal taken care of first thing, everything after that was gravy. I managed to get ten shinies while we were out. Furthermore, just after we had decided to start heading back up the path toward our car some people in a car in a parking lot noticed us playing and called out to us to ask if we wanted to take on the Cresselia raid that was happening at the Vietnam War Memorial. Neither of our groups was powerful enough on our own, but together we would be able to do it. We walked over, and on their way over the other people had also met a kid who was playing from their parent’s car and they drove over, too, so we ultimately had a group of six. Most of us got the Cresselia, and it was especially gratifying that the kid in the car seemed so happy and excited when they got it, it’s nice to be able to help bring joy into people’s lives.

Today I took my normal walk to Maurie Jacobs Park and the Owen Rose Garden (usually I do a short walk on Sunday but I did that yesterday so I figured I shouldn’t do two rest days). The Community Weekend spawns are still happening at increased rates, I didn’t get any more shinies but I did get a lot of Larvitar candies. In the non-virtual world it was a really pleasant, quiet walk today. I’m still dealing with a bit of sleep debt, but I’m almost feeling like I’m back on an even keel. Ducks don’t really have keels so this isn’t a perfect segue, but here is a photo of some ducks I passed on my walk anyway:
