POEM - My Actifit Report Card: September 10 2019

in #actifit5 years ago (edited)

Something is a matter with my car,
took it to the mechanic not to far.

My feet felt the need to roam,
a nice day to walk back home.

Walking provided a different view,
I took in the scenery as if new.

I stopped to explore.
Havey Beach's shore.

It is great if your a duck,
for swimming I'm out of luck!

I drive past the Havey Beach sign several times a week. It is less than a mile from my house. I never checked it out because the Beach House has always been boarded up. Also, it is the Charles River, not a place I would want to swim in!

I did a little research and found out the beach was closed in the 1950's! Swimming was once popular in the river, but by the 1950's the water was very polluted by industrial run off and sewage. In 1955, The Standell's sang about the plight of the Charles in their song Dirty Water.

Over the last decade or so, the water has been cleaned up. At various times of the year it is safe to swim in.

Woo!😲👍💪👌 Over 10k, that is really impressive. Water pollution is a problem for here too. Cleaning it isn't to priority though.

Thank you. They have done a good job cleaning it up. For at least a decade the wild life has returned and is thriving around the river. I think the biggest issues was that for a long time everything was dumped or ran off into the river.

I hope they make it a priority soon.

Great stepping 💪 and beautiful pictures, glad to see the ducks enjoying themselves😗. Also glad to hear that the river is healing up well after years of human pollution 🙌.
Wishing you an awesome Wednesday ahead. Enjoy your activities 👍 😀

Over 10K a great activity count, and I hope it snothing serious with your car and can be fixed quickly

A shame that the water was polluted there, a good thing they are cleaning it up, but I am not sure if I would swim there anytime I am always dubious when a placed is only deemed safe at certain times

Thank you, the car has an occasional vibration that you can feel in the steering wheel. They can't figure out what is causing it because it happens so infrequently. They put the car on the lift and everything checked out. They told me it is safe to drive and bring it back if it gets worse.

I would never swim in it.

Intermittent problems are the worse hard to diagnose and you never know when it will happen, which n your case i hope it goes away and does not bother you

Thank you, It hasn't acted up since I have had it back. Tomorrow I will be taking on the highway. Hopefully, it will continue run smoothly.
