My Actifit Report Card: March 10 2019

in #actifit5 years ago

I just walked the dog, shopped and did errands for today's steps. I was short of 5000 so I did some jump rope and walked in a circle around the office. (Maybe I'll wear a nice pattern in the carpet at this rate.)

The weather is getting much nicer so I should be able to go bike riding and disc golfing soon.

Weekends get busy for me so there is not much time for photography or other creative writing. I ran across and interesting discussion on AI. The question was raised on if AI will take over social networks like Steemit or something like that.

I'm personally don't think there will be too many problems with artificial intelligence taking over the jobs of writers, bloggers, poets, artists and creative people. If anything it may enhance the experience.

There are many programs that can take a photograph and change it into a computer made art work. If you add machine learning to such programs you could get to the place where such computer made art becomes very unique like a fractal only better.

I think perhaps at some point the we will realize more deeply what it means to be human and live a life of increasing personal integrity. If so, machine learning could become a great tool for us to see life more deeply and realize the depth of experience which is here.

At no point before have we had the ability to carry entire libraries of information around with us or create money just by running programs on computers.

At some point we may collectively decide that each of us has something to offer beyond what can be seen through the best machine learning algorithms designing the perfect artworks.

I don't think AI will be causing much disruption to social networks like Steemit. I view machine learning as more like an advance statistical analysis of variance operation designed to maximize some particular output. As such there is no real intelligence per say.

Advanced AI is still many years away and perhaps an intractable problem imho.

With that said, if something were to develop actual intelligence with some degree of self awareness they might become very popular. That popularity could allow them to gain enough wealth to actually make a difference in the way society is run. I would assume a machine process would not have the self serving interest that we associate with the worst qualities of human nature. So all hail our mechanical overlords - should the occasion arise. LOL just kidding...

This does bring about another interesting question. If such a self aware intelligent computer process did come about would it have to give any Steem it earned to its human master or suffer the fate of being turned off? (Hypothetically of course. hee, hee)

Oh AI is such a fascinating topic. My son and I always have fun debates. I am always kidding him he needs to prepare to submit to the machines.

Have you read about Google's AlphaGo Zero? It is the most interesting self learning experience that I know of.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AlphaGo_Zero

Very interesting link. The AI topic is really broad with differing viewpoints. AI being able to do very specific tasks has been improving a lot. Who knows where it will lead but I think it will remain as a tool for specific tasks for some time yet. It is fun to think about where it might progress to though.

I think that there will always be people who will direct the AI to the detriment of society, it’s better without it at least, in social networks :)

Very interesting insights @lightsplasher

I view machine learning as more like an advance statistical analysis of variance operation designed to maximize some particular output. As such there is no real intelligence per say.

For now that it surely true. But what if we develop a "strong AI"?

Strong AI might result in something like Ray Kurzweil's technological singularity. All bets are off at that point. Who knows if such things will happen though based on the state of the world as it presently is.

That is valuable article and great work. sir excellent photography
Thanks @lightsplasher
Have a nice day

The stone looks very beautiful. Nice report card.

I don't think artificial intelligence will affect social media like steemit from functioning and rewarding it's audiences and followers, because social medias functions based on human interaction and engagement . Sunday is always less busy with activities so your actifit score is still very encouraging @lightsplasher

Human interaction and engagement are very important, especially as people age. Any tool or technology can be used to enhance interaction or to make problems for us. Hopefully AI will make things more interesting and engaging in our social interactions.

Great post dear @lightsplasher and good wark i like your post all taime
