Met my friend Maddie for our weekly walk and talk. We usually also clean. We pick up whatever trash we find along the way.

Today, we met in Mission Bay instead of on the ocean. The plan was to go to Ikea after the walk and that was the closest place with nice walking.

We had said to meet at the visitor center. This picture was taken from there, looking out onto the bay.

I am not sure how we manage, but lately, we seem to end up on different sites of the meeting point and it takes us a while to find each other. So glad that we have cell phones!!

Speaking of cell phones. You know how I complain about mine not counting my steps a lot? This morning, I made sure I turned that thing off and gave it some good resting time to make sure it wouldn't leave me at a zero count.

And, it did well for most of the day. But I like round numbers. And while I am very happy with my count today, I just wanted to round it up to 21,000 by walking through the house.

You know what is coming, right? I am walking and walking - call it pacing back and forth, from one end of the house to the other - and - wait for it....... Nothing!
Not even one step more.
Silly phone. It had enough for the day :)

As we are walking along, we saw this. Both of us thought that it is man-made and had no idea why it was there. it was directly under a palm tree. the wind was blowing pretty good and we decided to move on.

A palm fond falling on your head is no joke.

This is more what you expect to see on the bay. We walked out onto the small pier and checked out what all was available to rent.

After walking for 2 hours, we stopped at Ikea and had a cheap and healthy lunch.

Quinoa chile with sweet potatoes and black beans and a baby green salad with beets, feta cheese and walnuts.
Yummy!!

Then I rushed home since I had promised my friend Chi that we would walk to the farmer's market together.

Another fun talk and walk. On the way back, we missed her street and ended up following this footpath along the trolley. That was the best part! Walking on city streets is just not that much fun. But we are committed to doing it whenever both of us are in town.
