Riverside Park South

For this evenings acifit post I share some photos taken with my iPhone These photos were taken on a walk this morning before work, I have a visit with my Vascular Doctor tomorrow after having a blockage and stents in my legs so I wanted to do over 4 Miles and 1oK steps in one walk and see how y legs coped with it and the good news is they coped pretty well.
So this morning I got into the city and took an S and 2 Subway trains up to 72nd Street and started my walk from there, I was heading to the South Side of Riverside Park which I had not been to before, so for those who say I know every inch of NYC thats not true but I am working on it.

I may have got a little carried away with phone photos I todays post, I normally take a bunch and pick a small few to share but I had trouble deciding which ones not to use in this post.

This first shot is as I was walking to the park,

Walking along that road I finally saw the park as shown int he next shot and now I just had to find a way to get down to it

A little further along the road I found an entrance and this path down into the park

You may have noticed in the shot looking frown into the Park the pier so I had to head to that first and here is a shot looking out into the pier, as you can see it was a little overcast and foggy this morning

And just to show what I often don't show in my posts, People there were a few it on the pier as you can see in this next shot

After checking out the one Pier I continued on my walk along the pathways in the park, there were quite a few weeping willow trees along this walk

Sometimes in life andon morning walks you reach a point where you have to choose which way to go the high road or the low road, or in this case the left or right path, I went right in this case

And continuing on i came to this point in the park where there was a small bridge over the water and an interesting view, you may note there are some sort of cacti growing in the foreground a little viewpoint of to the left, and the structure the cacti are growing on and that square platform in the middle looked like at some stage there were some sort of foundation or road, I found this spot quite interesting.

But time was ticking on and I had not done a lot of steps by that time so I kept walking, it if you wanted a break walking there, there was like in most NYC parks plenty of benches along the way.

And another area in the park that I passed through with a sculpture that looked like a big bottle is shown in this next shot, it was quite interesting and I took some shots of it with my camera for a future post.

and this is near the end of the park and the end of my photos for this post, another little pier where one can sit and relax if they wish to

Looking at these shots really makes me miss the days when I armed myself nothing more than my D90, my backpack with my lunch in it.

Thanks for showing this side of your town @tattoodjay .

Mine was slightly more monothemed with a little eerie excitement added to it.

I still Walk my my camera most times but my acitifit post are mostly photos taken with my iPhone

Nice shots @tattoodjay! That pier was amazing, it's so unusal to see it without tons of people, lol A real treat. Love the cactus planting too, we just bought a few of those to plant in our gardens. Hope your doctor visits go well, keep walking, I know that will make the doc happy! :)

Thanks Kindly :) thats why I love visiting and walking NYC in the early morning when it is so quiet compared to any other time of day

I am hoping to have a spot for a little cacti garden when we move next year

As for the doctors appointment, he was indeed happy with the walking i am doing, the scan wasn't as good as I had hoped but better than it could have been, I have to have a follow-up scan in 3 months so lets hope that goes better

So amazing JJ.
Talking about stents in your legs. Last year I had a stent placed in my head and was told to take statins for the rest of my life.
Well for the last 3 months I get terrible pains in my calves even over very short distances. They are now going to book me for scans of my lower arteries.
I have stopped taking the stains TODAY.
So strange that you should talk about it now.

Btw. Some great photos here as usual and congrats on your legs coping.
Blessings!

I am on statins I wasnt pit on them when I got the stents but my Cardiologist put me on them, they do make my aches ache more from time to time but they havent affected my calves, I am glad they are doing a scan of your legs thats how they found I had a blockage and needed the stents

I thought the visit to the Vascular Dr would be a breeze today since my legs havent been bothering me when walking, but the stents in both legs have some scarring or something forming on them, not bad enough to do anything yet but instead of 6 months for my next check they want to see me again in 3 months, apparently sometime sit forms and then goes away so I am hoping thats the case for me

Scarring? Could it become dangerous? I don't take statins anymore as we have found a generic and I took the first tablet last night. It is called Atorvastatin and it has much less side effects.
We will pray that the silt will disappear my friend.
Did they put stents in both legs, or above the legs in the pubic area?
Blessings!

Atorvastatin is the one I take it’s still a statin but one of the better ones with less side effects

If the scarring which I think is sometimes called calcification keeps building up it could be dangerous but I would feel it in my calves when walking before it gets to dangerous and go in and see the Dr earlier and get it sorted so far no issues when walking and the scarring is minor so only slightly restricting blood flow and nit a big deal and maybe they will go away on there own
They did my right leg first on that one there is one stent just above my public area and two going down my leg
On my left leg there is one long stent from mid upper leg going down past my knee I never knew they could be so long

All will be good I am sure and just about to get off the train and head for my morning walk

I think the statin that I stopped Pravastatin, is the one that prevents calcification JJ.
But it has many side effects such as muscle degeneration and that's why I stopped taking it. I am on my second day of taking Atorvastatin now.

Do you also take the other tablets such as blood pressure and blood thinners?
Then I also take one to prevent stomach lining inflammation and two Cortisone for an unknown skin condition that is aggravated by the sun.

Yeah, I am a walking pharmacy Lol.
Blessings!

I am on a mix now i forget all the names an inhaler i take each morning to help Controll the COPD because of having had TB and damaged lungs, Baby Aspirin, Astorvastatin, a blood thinner, I am also taking vitamin D as those levels went down for some reason but thats over the counter and a probiotic again over the counter, I think there is one more but I forget which one that is

And my Wife takes a different bunch of pills so between the three of us were for sure a pharmacy LOL

I just had a crazy Tribe idea JJ.
How many steemians are walking pharmacy's?
Why don't you and I start a support group where people can discuss their problems and give each other advice at overcoming similar problems?

The new Hardfork will be better for curators and so, let's curate???
Blessings!

I am sure there are many of us walking pharmacies on here but that could be a good idea for a tribe /support group but I have no clue how tribes work or are setup to be honest

Nice pictures. I wasn't expecting to see cacti there.

Me either I was quite surprised when I saw them and had to get a shot

Phone takes good pictures, amazing how compact they are today.

What a wonderful walk enjoying water and unusual plants along the way, lovely scenic area to enjoy the outdoors.

Rocks with cacti definitely an interesting combination to find along the way.

The quality of the camera phone these days is pretty amazing but I still mostly use my Sony camera for most photos I take but Illes it for my actifit posts
This was the first time I had been to this park so it was cool to see it and that area with the cacti was the coolest part of it I must say

Not sure in the colder conditions if those cacti will flower, if they do it is normally during winter over here, would be amazing to see if they adapted that well to the region.

Good luck with results from Doc, sure the walking has been a tremendous help.

I do wonder if they will flower I doubt it with the climate here but nature can surprise us

The doctors visit didn't go as good as I hope for but then again wasn't as bad as it could have been, I have to have a follow up in 3 months instead of the normal 6 months so lets hope that one goes better

As always, nice shots on your walk
