Learning Strategy from Children was Fun and Refreshing || My Actifit Report Card: September 9 2019

I was so privilege to me the Moderator during the 2019 Children's Service held yesterday in church. Having to run around with them to have the event successfully executed was fun and refreshing.

The first activity of the day that caught my interest was the unveiling of the theme of thr meeting which was "Let the Children come to me".

As pictured above, two groups (male and female) were formed and they were given a task of selecting the letters if the alphabet that make up the theme of the programme. The fastest group was to be declared winner.

What struck me was the strategy adopted by the winning group (females). They were very careful to assign task to themselves. One was saddled with selecting possible letters while the other concentrated in arranging the letters. The other group were not careful in utilizing a strategy. Both of them were involved in selecting and the arrangements and it resulted in duplicating letters.

This was a powerful lesson for me and I wish to share with you. Sharing responsibilities is a strategy that assures the maximization of the skills of the components of the parities concerned. Sharing responsibilities help participants to each utilize their thinking prowess to get a work done.

Sometimes, we think that working as a group and together will get a work done faster. However, it doesn't. It increases the idle time of work since conversation during group work can drain energy.

This reminds me of a popular quote that says: "If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with people". This share does not in any way undermine the power of cooperation, rather, it teaches us the best way to maximize cooperation.

When cooperating, there must be clear and defined lines of responsibility to avoid duplication and clash of activities. Each person should be given a defined line of action and targets would be met.

That was how my Sunday went, a lot of walking, dancing and running around to help the children's service successful. Their dedication and energy in their presentations were quite commendable. Sone of them cried, some forgot their scrips, yet we're still happy.

Simply put, it was fun and refreshing to ne with the children!
