A little bit of history...

Since ancient times Aloe vera has been considered one of the most important plants in folk medicine. Its various uses were transmitted from generation to generation, in different cultures, by royal doctors and priests, leaving in their wake writings and drawings that showed their benefits and goodness.

Entering a little in its history it is interesting to mention that it was called "the plant of immortality" by the ancient Egyptians, which indicates the importance it has since ancient times; they left reference to its benefits in the Papirus of Ebers, written in 1500 BC. For his part, the well-known philosopher Aristotle also had knowledge of the properties of this plant; he recommended to his then disciple Alexander the Great to obtain it in order to heal the wounds of his soldiers; once convinced of it Alexander ordered that it be planted in the battle tanks to always have fresh supplies during his campaigns.

Another important fact that highlights the value of the aloe plant in time, is that it was used by several Egyptian queens such as Nefertiti and the beautiful Cleopatra, as they say, this included the Aloe Vera in the mythical creams and cosmetic balsams, which undoubtedly helped to seduce the same Mark Antony and part of the Roman army he led. That is why she was considered one of the most beautiful women in the world.

When the plant was in bloom, it was known that the recently deceased pharaoh had arrived safely to the hereafter: "This plant even played a role in the conservation of the mummies of Ancient Egypt," says Kim Beisel of the Aloe Vera Center in Germany.

Aloe vera is a semi-tropical plant native to Arabia, North and South Africa; it generally grows in hot, dry climates, such as Africa, the Mediterranean and many places on the Asian continent, although it can now be found in many parts of the world. It is considered to be a plant of sacred importance to a large number of cultures.

Etymologically, the name Aloe vera has an Arabic, Greek and Latin origin: alloeh, which in Arabic means "bitter substance" and alos, which in ancient Greek means "sea", while vera in Latin means "true".

What are the secret powers that have sustained me on my long road? They are my faith in God, my simple and frugal life and Aloe, whose benefits I discovered in South Africa in the early years of the century," said Mahatma Gandhi.

What is aloe used for?

It is recommended to apply the gel in the affected area every night, preferably 30 minutes before bedtime and remove with plenty of water upon awakening.

A very useful and generous plant indeed.
My mother and mother-in-law use it for their respiratory problems. They mix it with honey ormolases, lime juice, cilantro, and cucumber to treat cough. They also use it for constipation.
I used it many times to help wounds heal.

interesting Post

Aloe Vera, we call this plants lidah buaya mean crocodile's tongue.
it is look funy.
You have peel in depth about aloe vera plants. Start from history, breeding to its benefits for health and beauty.
As food and drink, it is available in various supermarkets. however, I like to eat aloe vera directly without being processed. first.
The way to remove the skin and take the meat and then wash with running water until the mucus is gone. This mucus causes bitter taste. If the mucus is gone then bitter is gone. We can eat it right away. If you want to be processed first, you can just make it to drink according to your taste.

I'm addicted to the use of aloe vera. At home I have several plants that have grown without much care. As you say, this plant does not need much water and is very resistant to heat and is good for fighting many things. My sister takes aloe vera with honey and an egg white for gastritis and it is very effective. I also use aloe vera gel not only for my hair but also for my face. As I live near the sea, the weather can be a lethal enemy to hair and skin. I have also used it to combat constipation and as a detoxifier. Simply mix aloe with pineapple, parsley, honey and a touch of lemon, and take on an empty stomach. It's perfect! Thank you for this post, @luces.

Aloe Vera is one of the miraculous plants. In my house I have several plants and from them I extract the leaves and the crystal to take care of health problems like gastritis, dermatitis without exaggerating its use because it can be irritating. It is an excellent healing. For stomach problems I always put pieces of aloe crystals in my milky juice. This plant should not be missing at home. A very informative publication, @luces, grateful for all the recommendations you share with us.

Your work, @luces, is elaborated with a very meritorious sense, because with it you render, in some way, a recognition to one of the most wonderful plants that nature offers us. The "aloe vera", besides being very striking like all agaves for its shape and material consistency (its flower is beautiful and strange), has, as well indicas, a multiplicity of uses. In my case, I use it mainly as a detoxifier and expectorant, to moisturize the skin and hair and as a healer, in case of wounds. Thank you for your pleasant post. Greetings.

How good it was to read this publication. It is very nice and contains a little bit of everything about Aloe Vera. In my house we have always used this plant to heal burns or heal wounds on the skin. There are people who use it to heal lung injuries. A small portion of Aloe Vera with cucumber and honey, fasting (they say it is very good but I have not tried that recipe). It is also used as a repellent of bad influences (popular belief or folklore). Greetings @luces, thanks for addressing this issue. Best regards @adsactly by spreading health and beauty issues.
