Castle Craig - East Peak Summit

The Hanging Hills of Meriden, Connecticut

A couple weeks ago I hiked through Hubbard Park in the Hanging Hills of Meriden, CT. At the summit there is a small lookout tower called 'Castle Craig'. It's made of local trap-rock and was dedicated in the year 1900 by Walter Hubbard. The castle's observation deck provides an amazing view of the surrounding area. On a clear day, it's possible to see Long Island Sound to the south, the Berkshires to the west and the Hartford skyline to the north. Here's a photo that I took of Castle Craig when I reached the summit of East Peak. It was definitely a beautiful day!
