Xenophobia: A bunch of Violent idiots

in #africa5 years ago

That word looks like a South African word, one of those Afrikaans or some shit. It has been all over the news lately. I mean Xenophobia; a complete disdain for foreigners and who are the foreigners? Nigerians of course.

It is quite embarrassing how we do each other in the dark continent some times. When you hear how people here blame "the white man" for our issues, you'd think they're still working on plantations and getting whipped. Technically we sort of are; we're still working for slave drivers or the political/first class citizens and of course getting whipped by one small thing called poverty. You'd think that we'd be unified in the struggle but the reverse seems to be the case.
Only a few days ago, people in South Africa went crazy and started perpetrating violent acts against foreigners in their land and according to them, the problem is that these foreigners were responsible for issues in the country, including; certain crimes, being cooler than them, taking their jobs because they're more qualified and work harder and of course, taking their women.
Nigeria is at the heart of this and from my understanding, occupy the largest population of individuals affected by the pointless act of violence. This has led to mass uproar in our country with certain people actually boycotting South African companies like MTN and DSTV(multi choice) to name a few. The only irony about it is that in Nigeria, those companies are fully occupied by Nigerians.
The average foreigner cannot survive in Nigeria because we're too hardcore, kick ass, fast paced and cunning. This means that even when a foreign company comes here, virtually all employees are Nigerians.

Step Up Your Game

The people performing the dastardly violent deeds have the same mentality with the whiny pussies that you find in Trump's rally asking for "foreigners" to be sent home. If Nigerians come into your country and are doing something you can't do, the ideal thing to do is up your game and be a better version of yourself, take advantage of the fact that you understand the system better than they do to thrive. The worst thing to do is destroy their businesses, kill them or be a complete douchebag.

Africa On Fire

This whole thin has left a bad taste in my mouth; I know it is not the whole SA that's behaving this way. I had a conversation with @penderis and despite being an asshole, he's a kind man with similar feeling about his society to me. Irrespective of where we are, we have the same struggle and pain. We want something better for ourselves, whether you're Nigerian, Ghanaian, South African or Kenyan. We should unite for a common cause but alas, there's fighting and turmoil. Africa is on fire.
