Sarah was a very happy little girl. She was an only child, but she had lots of friends and enjoyed playing sports at school. She was not lonely at all. She was a bright student and her teachers loved her. She was not only good at sport but she was also good in academics. She had a bright future ahead of her.

One day when Sarah arrived at home after school, her parents were waiting for looking all excited. They told her that they had some wonderful news, and she was all excited for them. Her father told her that he was promoted at work and that they would be moving to the city.

Sarah did not react they had hoped she would. Sarah was absolutely devastated. She was so upset that she locked herself in her room without even having dinner. Her father was quite upset, and he didn't want to see her unhappy, but it meant great things for him at work, and it would be the best thing for all of them.

A month later, they packed up the house and they moved to the city. Sarah was still upset, but she had no other choice but to go with them. She had to leave her school, teachers, and most importantly her friends behind. Sarah was no longer happy.

The new school was not the same as her old school. She had no friends and the teacher's did not even seem to notice her. She tried very hard to fit in, but the more she tried, the more she failed. Sarah started to feel like a failure. Her marks dropped and she became withdrawn and felt miserable all the time. It was not easy to make new friends, and everyone seemed to be part of some group that she had no interest in.

Her father on the other hand, was totally excited about his new job. He knew in his heart that it was the best thing for them all, and he hoped and prayed that in time Sarah would adapt to her new situation and become the happy girl that she once was.

For months Sarah struggled to adapt. She tried out for the netball team, but she was just not good enough. This made her even more reluctant because at her old school she was the captain of the netball team. It was like someone pulled the rug from under her and she could not get back on her feet again. She dreaded the summer holiday that was around the corner, because she knew that she was going to spend it all alone reading in her room.

One day a new family moved in next door, and suddenly Sarah felt a flare of hope. She was curious to meet them, and went over with a plate of cookies to make them feel at home. Sarah knew how miserable she felt when she just arrived and she had no one to talk to. It turned out that Charlie, the boy next door, was also an only child, and he felt exactly the way she felt when she first arrived.

Sarah and Charlie became close friends, and they spent every minute together. They played basketball in the evenings and they had the same interests in books. For the first time in months, Sarah could smile again, and her father started to feel less guilty about the move.

Charlie made quite the impression when he walked into school. The girls went crazy over him, with his beautiful blue eyes and pitch black hair, but Charlie didn't care. He only had eyes for Sarah. He walked her home in the afternoons after football practice and they talked all the way home. Charlie was the best friend she ever had, and she knew that if they had not moved to the city she would have never met Charlie.

Eventually Charlie brought her into his group of new friends, and they all turned out to be very cool kids. Sarah became more involved with her schoolwork, and it wasn't long before she won the trust of her teachers. Sarah was happy again, and the move turned out not to be such a bad thing after all.

Years later Charlie and Sarah went to the same university and ended up getting married a few years later.

In life we are often unhappy and sad about things that happen. We are not used to change, and we struggle to adapt to situations, but changes are part of life, and we need to learn how to adapt to our situations. Change is a good thing, and we shouldn't get stuck in our ways. We need to learn how to be happy in all situations, because change is inevitable. Always try to make the best of a bad situation, and you might turn out to be lucky, just like Sarah was.
