Are you a fan of history? Interesting stories? I have to tell you about a very special one.
There is a city in Mexico, in the state of in the state of Tamaulipas, the city Matamoros which you have to visit!
So, if you have planned or not, your next destination is Matamoros. A city that is unique, special and it has a historical spirit.
You are a fan of history, basically learning new things, culture, then you will have an amazing time in Matamoros. I can say it is kind of vintage.
The attraction which you will find very interesting and amazing is the Casa Cross.
It is a Victorian style house, European architectural style which was built back in 1885, and then it was built by Meliton Cross.
This house has a special story, something different and exciting. The background of the story is love, so John Samuel Cross came from South Carolina, and he fell in love with a mulatto slave from Martinique, Elisa Foye. Back in the days, it wasn’t really “allowed’ this kind of action,
but his father disinherited Cross, and all he had was a gun, horse and 5$. So, he was traveling around, from New Orleans to Texas.
But the love he had for Elisa was something really different, just like fireworks, it was beautiful, and they had seven children, and one of them was Meliton.
He worked very hard and “climbed the highest level of society” and made a fortune. But after his death, his son Meliton Cross was the one who built the beautiful residence.
When he died, it fell into decline. But in 1982, Filemon Garza reconstructed the residence to its original state.
The story behind this house is really something you didn’t hear, Meliton built the house in honor of his parents, which is a beautiful gesture.
There are a couple of “fun facts” about the Casa Cross, it is one of a kind in Northeast Mexico, furnished with an amazing taste, with the addition to several musical instruments.
Casa Cross is considered one of the main emblems of Matamoros.

You really can’t miss out visiting this residence! It is a story in one place, it is history and heritage.
I’m telling you, Matamoros is a very interesting city, and you will see amazing things, learn even more interesting things and just be thrilled to be a part of the journey.
