Considered as a religious masterpiece and a monument, this temple is situated at the heart of the city of Aguascalientes where history reigns. The mastermind behind the varied architecture of the temple’s building is none other than the self-made architect, Refugio Reyes Rivas who is renowned in creating historical and architectural artworks in the buildings despite having any professional background. The work for the building’s construction began in 1895, and it took around 11 years for its completion. Although the construction order for the building was appointed by the Franciscan order, at present, it is under the guardianship of Augustinian order.
Majority of the critics claim that what makes the building stand out among the other attractions in the city of Mexico is its heterogeneous architecture. In other words, a glance at the building would tell the sightseers, especially those who are passionate about learning art and architecture that the building is an amalgamation of gothic, Russian Moorish, Baroque and neo-classical structural design.
The temple building in 2008 achieved a major milestone since its creation because, at the account of its hundredth anniversary, the temple itself and its surrounding streets underwent a series of notable remodeling and design.
