A profound collection of military aircraft and unique automobiles only at Lyon Museum

Located on the western end of the John Wayne Airport, in the autonomous and self-governing region of Orange County, California, the Lyon museum is an aerospace museum. The museum is renowned for exhibiting a rare collection of vehicles such as automobiles and motorcycles, contains military aircraft and a prominent collection of artifacts, relic, and archives from the Second World War.

Seven notable aircraft that are sound, flightworthy and in a good working condition, add to the prominence of the museum and are thus followed:

The Bird Dog, Cessna O-1E is an observation and association aircraft that has the first ever metal fixed wing. It was first ordered for and by the United States to serve in US armed air force. Since 1947, this aircraft has an extensive career in serving US Air Force and military along with serving other countries.

Flying Fortress, the Boeing B-17 is a four-engine bombing plane, developed by the United States Army Air Corps in the 1930s. Since then, this bombing aircraft is in perfect working condition and throughout the time has remarkably safeguarded the country.

Dakota or Sky train, Douglas C-47 is a military aircraft that was developed before the Second World War from the D-3 jumbo jet airplane. This aircraft was responsible for transporting military individuals and in the Second World War was widely used by allies. Till now it is still in front line in terms of service and military operations.

Douglas Dc-3 is one of the most inspiring nag historic collection of the museum and depicts the fixed-wing propeller driver jumbo jet aircraft that was significantly used by the allied forces in the Second World War. Upon its development, this airplane revolutionized the airline industry remarkably over the 10 years’ time that is from the 1930s to 1940s.

Constructed by Douglas Aircraft industry, the Douglas A-26 Invader is again a bombing and a ground attack aircraft with two light engines. It is notable for offering its services in the Second World War and the period of the cold war.

The Lyon museum is also renowned for hosting unique car exhibitions in which specific cars are reflective of a certain theme. For example from the 1st of July to the 3rd of September 2018, the museum hosted a vintage car exhibition in which a wide range of antiquated cars was presented each reflected its unique era. This exhibition paid special homage to Dan Gurrey.
