Among the four tallest accessible buildings in Missouri, the Gateway arch comes third in rank as it is a 630-foot tall monument. In the western hemisphere, this building is considered as the tallest man-made creation, and its curve or arch is the tallest one in the world. The monument is arrayed in stainless steel, and its design is a reflection of a weighted catenary arch. This monument commemorates the territorial acquisition and conquest victories of the United States that signaled their independence and reflects its zeal in becoming a world power. So, basically, this legendary arch pays tribute to the American people. As this great arch carrying such historic and patriotic symbolism, it is the hub of attraction in St. Louis, has become an internationally renowned symbol and in terms of location, this monument is a centerpiece of the Gateway Arch National Park as it is situated and gives the park the perk of becoming a fine tourist attraction point.

Getting at the top of the Gateway arch marks the beginning of the Gateway Arch experience. There is no point in speculating the iconic historic site if you can’t reach the top and have a breathtaking view of the east through the west. As you reach the top through the tram ride, you will be astounded to see exceptional architectural works of over 43,000 tons of concrete and steel that made the iconic, graceful arch, 63 foot tall that soars in the sky. The monument reached its completion in 1965, and since then, it has the upper hand over all the high rise building by offering tram services to the visitors so that they can have speculating views of the city from the top.

The duration of the tram is 45 minutes to one hour. It should be kept in mind that those visitors who have special needs and have any form of physical impairment are not allowed at the observation deck of the top of the Gateway Arch. In this respect, strollers, wheelchairs, scooters are all off limits on the deck. So, to reach the top, you need to be physically fit to manage 96 step to and fro.
