Situated on the outskirts of Puerto Rico, no public transport operates within this historic quarter that would take the tourists and locals to visit the grand fortress. Therefore the only way, you can reach the fortress is through the foot. Taxi service is also available. Self-driving is not advisable because the roads that lead to the fortress are too narrow, are one-way, and the drivers’ often face the difficulty of navigation.
The fortress is closed on Thanks Giving Day, New Year day and Christmas Day. The admission fees of the fortress are highly affordable and minimal.

At present, this place has been granted heritage status by the UNESCO and by attracting up to two million visitors each year, it has become one of the most popular visiting spots among tourist.
