The Plaza de las Armas is translated into Weapons Square and is one of the important and significant squares in the history of Hispanic and Latin America. The square is a landmark place in San Luis Potosi that was founded in the year 1592 by Captain Caldera, Juna de Onate, Viceroy Luis de Velasco, and Castilla. The urban layout of the plaza makes it distinct and different with its resemblance of the grid type chessboard game. The plaza is lined with a number of real houses, cathedrals and many buildings with space initially being surrounded by only twelve blocks.

The square stands firm and old with baroque cathedral from the 18th century, municipal palace and royal houses around. The Metropolitan Cathedral is close to the plaza, and this invites a number of tourists. The large square is a good place to sit and relax along with many tourism and commercial establishments. The Octagonal Kiosk stands in the middle of the center of the square designed in a heavy pink quarry that was established on 25th November 1948. The plaza has names of many great Mexican musicians which includes a number of big names like Miguel Lerdo de Tejada, Genaro Godina, Mario Talavera, Manuel M.Ponce, Alfonso Esparza Oteo, Guty Cardenas and Julian Carrillo.

The foundation in the middle of the plaza and the kiosk are built by the Biagi Brothers. The space was initially covered by gardens and leaves which had to be cleared for building the facility. The plaza is great for spending time with friends and family witnessing the sunset and enjoying the breeze. It has a number of walking streets around that are close to traffic and transports, and hence the place is easily accessible. The stunning 19th-century architecture and buildings of the plaza make the plaza amazing and spectacular with a lot of history hidden in every turn and corner.

The magnificent cathedral and monuments in orange and brick color give a distinct and unique look. The blend of architectural excellence and religious places harmoniously exist together keeping the colonial history alive since the pre-Hispanic era. The square has the San Luis Potosi Cathedral, State Capital Building, State Congress and the City Hall. The center of the square holds the gorgeous pink kiosk that pays tribute to 8 of the most prominent musicians from Mexico. The place is busy and bustling with a lot of things to do in and around.
