Plaza Del Carmen is one of the oldest squares in the city of San Luis Potosi in Mexico lined by many monuments, cathedrals, and cafes in and around. The traditional church was built in the year 1749 and was a part of the old convent of Los Armelitas Descalzos. The plaza is surrounded by absolutely stunning green landscape, and one of the iconic landmarks is the Carmen Cathedral. The Plaza Del Carmen is open every day, and anyone can visit the place free of charge. The plaza is one of the most significant traditional places in the city adorned with trees.

The plaza is amazing as one can enjoy mimes, music, and performance by clowns. The iconic large central bronze fountain in an oval shape with fishes streaming through it brightens and enlightens the place at night. The Monument of the Father is a famous sculpture in the Carmen square. The Playa del Carmen is surrounded by the Carmen Temple, Peace Theater, National Mask Museum and the Potosino Regional Museum. The public park is open every day and being surrounded by some of the old and significant monuments makes the place important, and a must visit for every visitor.

Playa De Carmen is also the spot that attracts the attention of all the residents and tourist with the Procession of Silence that takes place during the holy week. The square is designed and architected by architects Cossio, Garfias and Algara and inaugurated in the year 1973. The place is definitely a nice place to sit on the bench and soak under the rays of the sun with the view of Teatro de la Paz on one side and the National Mask Museum. The place is conveniently located to some of the major attractions of the city along with the convenience of everything else.

The square was constructed after half an area was demolished next to the Federal Palace and the second half was again demolished next to the annex of the temple. The largest square of the capital, the vintage and old vibe is integrated strongly with sandstone buildings and orange brick buildings. It houses the majestic Carmen Temple, Museum of the Viceroyalty and 2 large sculptures made by famous sculpture Mario Cuevas. It is easy and convenient to reach the square being the largest and oldest one, and with so many things in and around, it is pretty easy to tour everything in one day.
