Speculating the design of Hermosillo Cathedral of the Assumption

The distinguishing aspect of this attraction of the Diocese of Hermosillo is that it is the only primary church in the capital city of Sonora. Along with the purpose to achieve religious salvation and relish the sanctity that the church provides, people also visit the place to speculate its grandeur and artistic design. The dominant elements of the church’s structural design include the amalgamation of neoclassical and neo-Gothicism that are also a symbolic representation of the capital city of Sonora.
Initially, when the church was constructed in 1700, the space of it was very small. Over the time due to the increase in the number of church attendance as people of diverse people started to embrace faith and show their devotion towards the established religious institution in the city, the works for enlarging the existing space of the church began. Thus, the construction of the church started in 1887 and reached its completion in 1908. As a result of extra space, the church started to accommodate a large number of congregations. The church opened its doors to the public immediately the major construction of the larger church ended even though the domed Copula was still not completed. This domed copula was completed in design and structure in 1963 and give the church a new welcoming look.
The great congregational meetings of the church take place every day from Monday to Saturday at respective sharp timings that are 7am, 8am and 7pm in the evenings. However, on Sundays, the timings are little different as the majority of the people attend the church in great numbers. So timings are 7am, 8am, 10:30am, 12 noon, 1pm, 5pm, 7pm, and 8pm.
The height of the building is 30 meters, and the church plays a principal role in the city as being the significant church of the Roman Catholics. Structure wise the church building is considered as one of the most emblematic buildings in the capital state of Sonora, but it also has immense importance in upholding austere religious views. In this respect, the building functions as a bedrock of the society ensuring that there is always the salvation from the higher power to which the distressed souls can look upon.
