The Famous Parque Zoológico Animaya

Parque Zoológico Animaya is a zoo in the city of Mérida, Mexico. It is located in the western part of the city on Calle 60. It is a must-visit attraction in Merida that attracts a large number of tourists throughout the year. It’s a small zoo with more than 80 percent an open area. The team at the zoo has tried to maintain the natural habitat of the animals to a larger extent. It’s a modern zoo which has been well maintained by the zoo staff.

Parque Zoológico Animaya showcases a wide variety of wild animals like zebras, camels, giraffes, lions, tigers, water buffalos, hippos, ostriches, deer, flamingos, etc. The animals are not caged, and hence you have to enter a caged vehicle pulled by a truck to view the wildlife. The zoo isn’t very huge. Hence you can easily get a closer look at these animals. There is a lake inside the zoo inhabited by water birds and amphibians. An observational tower is also present in the premises of the zoo. You can take an elevator to reach the top of the tower to get spectacular views of the zoo and the city. Multiple snack machines are also present in the zoo to munch on food products. Picnic tables are kept at the left side of the entrance where you can spend some relaxing time with friends and family under the shade of lush green trees. It is a good place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

The zoo is easily accessible by public transport, and you can also visit by your own vehicle as there is ample parking space. There is no admission fee currently to enter the zoo. Safari rides and boat rides are available in the zoo to explore the area and view the wild animals. These rides are also free for tourists and visitors. If you are lucky, you can also view the animals in their feeding time as this would be the closest you could get to the wild animals. Make sure you wear the heat protection gear while visiting the zoo. Kids love this zoo as they get to see the wild animals in reality.
