The ostrich from South Africa
The ostrich is the largest living bird. With a height of up to 2.5 meters (8 feet), it is quite large the size of small adults riding them and has been used in parts of North Africa and Arabia as race animals.
This bird can not fly and is included in a collection of lesser known primitives, the ratit (Palaeognaths). The scientific name is Struthio camelus.

Ostriches are warm-blooded animals, have wings and fur-covered bodies. Their fur does not function as an air shell, but was once popular as a women's hat ornament and so on. Its beak is toothed and pointed.

Ostriches are famous for socially nesting, in which some female birds will lay their eggs in one nest, to be incubated by the females during the day and the male at night. The ostrich egg is the largest egg.

The cultivation of ostriches for feathers began in the 19th century and was first performed in South Africa. Ostrich breeders catch ostrich babies from the wild, raise them, and harvest their feathers every seven or eight months. [7] The skin of the ostrich is said to be the skin of the highest quality. [8] The taste of ostrich meat is similar to beef but with lower levels of fat and cholesterol, and higher levels of calcium, protein, and iron. Raw ostrich meat is dark red or red cherry.
