Flies are considered as disturbing animals and have a negative impact on humans
Dear friend, this time I will post about Flies that I read and learn from several articles, and I will also share some pictures of flies that I successfully captured using my Smartphone a few weeks ago.
The fly itself is indeed considered a disturbing animal. In addition to the assumption that people who are flown means 'smell' or 'not bathed', flies do have the potential to spread some deadly diseases such as cholera, leprosy, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, salmonella and also the bacteria that cause dysentery. Flies breed in trash, feces and rotten meat. Really animals that you don't want to meet are in your soup bowl.
Actually, there is a reason that is still arguably rational about using this water bag. This is related to the performance of the eye from flies. Flies are known to have excellent sensory awareness and deft air maneuverability. This is caused by the two compound eyes. The eye of a fly consists of a pair of large complex eyes. Each eye of the complex consists of 3000 to 6000 simple eyes. Flies cannot focus on a particular object from the surrounding environment, but they actually have a view almost in all directions. This is similar to a supervisor in a casino that has dozens or even hundreds of cameras in his room. Each camera displays videos from all over the casino.
In addition, flies also have three additional simple eyes called ocelli. Ocelli is located between two compound eyes. The function works like a compass, with this eye the fly can know the direction of flight. However, ocelli can work optimally in sunlit areas.
Return to plastic water bags. The explanation above is the only logical reason that can be accepted. As is known, water will refract light, the incoming light will be deflected when the light passes through the water. Thus the shadow that appears will also shift from the location of the actual object. This refraction is said to underlie the use of plastic water bags.
Refraction occurs when objects that are clear or blurry, such as a piece of glass or a bag of water change the direction and speed of light. This optical illusion is expected to confuse flies so that they fly away.
A study was also conducted in America. Mike Stringham, professor of entomology at North Carolina State University conducted a field trial for 13 weeks. The aim is to determine whether a water bag can be used to reduce the population of flies in egg farms. Stringham installed plastic bags filled with water on two egg farms. After that, he measured the activity of flying at the points attached to this plastic bag.
The result is, precisely the area that is attached to this plastic bag has high fly activity. This is measured by the amount of vomit (regurgitated material) after eating flies. However, this research has one drawback, namely research not carried out under natural lighting conditions, aka the two egg farms, lack of sunlight. This study does not explore the possibility that sunlight can increase water bag efficiency.
