Up Close And Personal - A Closer Look at the Nile Crocodile

in #animalphotography6 years ago (edited)

The Nile crocodile is an apex predator and also the largest freshwater predator in Africa

These beasts have not survived the ages without reason, they are opportunistic, aggressive, intelligent and agile meaning that they are capable of taking almost any animal within their range.

I came about 2-3m away from these prehistoric looking creatures, and managed to take some intricate shots of them before making my way away from them as fast as possible.

Please Note that the Nile crocodile IS one of the most dangerous species of crocodile and is responsible for hundreds of human deaths every year - So please DO NOT TRY GETTING THIS CLOSE TO THESE CREATURES IN A NON CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT!

Those are cool closeups , one has to wonder why nature gave all those bumps, scales etc., to this critter... teeth should be protection enough.

hahaha - Well those bumps and scales are part and parcel of the fact that this creature managed to outlive the Dino's...

great buzz, @breezin, be careful,☺️

I will thank you @jhoni

Eeeeek! rather you than me! But how stunning is their leathery skin, such beautifully scary creatures!

Oh yes they are indeed, it really makes them look prehistoric!

Wow some awesome closeup pics - I never noticed the scales so much on the legs before. Looks like that croc just got a manicure :)

I don't care how good her nails look - I still don't want to go to her place for dinner :D
