Chingolo - Zonotrichia capensis - Rufus-Collared Sparrow

This restless bird is very common in the rural area where I live, Mar del Plata Argentina. They live in open spaces, with trees and shrubs, crops and plantations, since their diet is composed of seeds and insects. The chingolo frequents parks, gardens and populated places in general, even reaching the courtyards of the houses in search of some bread crumb. It can also be seen in rural areas, lands with shrubs, mountains and coasts of water mirrors. It is restless and fast on the flight. Relative of the sparrow, goes to the little jumps and with his song transmits joy.

• Este inquieto pajarito es muy común en la zona rural donde yo vivo, Mar del Plata Argentina. Habitan en espacios abiertos, con árboles y arbustos, cultivos y plantaciones, ya que su dieta está integrada por semillas e insectos. El chingolo frecuenta parques, jardines y lugares poblados en general, llegando incluso hasta los patios de las casas en procura de alguna miguita de pan. También se lo puede ver en las zonas rurales, terrenos con arbustos, montes y costas de espejos de agua. Es inquieto y veloz en el vuelo. Pariente del gorrión, anda a los saltitos y con su canto transmite alegría.
