Heads Up for a Falconry Demonstration - By Steve J Huggett
Spent the day at the National Botanic Gardens on Thursday, they have added a new "British Bird of Prey" centre this year. So, we went up to watch the last display of the day in bright sunshine.
First out the was this fella, giving his handler a hard time very funny though!
Nice to see the wildlife up in the UK @stevejhuggett is this a Goshawk? Always interesting to see them in action, you got some amazing shots of this bird in flight.
Thanks @joanstewart It's a Sparrow Hawk, they also brought out Red Kites, Peregrine falcon and a Sea Eagle.
That must have been a real treat!
No wonder we keep looking to the sky, never know your lucky day.
Yeah, it was really good. Need to go a couple of time to work out there flying patterns!
The Redkites are really common around here, so I also keep an eye open :)
Yellow-billed kite an annual visitor in number where we live, Fish eagle couples over the local rivers when conditions are right. We used to have some healthy owls in the area before all the big trees were destroyed with humans spreading down the coastal belt.
Makes me feel pretty lucky, I have the Brecon Beacons National Park a few miles to the North of me and the Pembrokeshire National Park to the west so human development is restricted :)
I have a special fondness for birds of prey. They are magnificent.
They are amazing to watch, we have a lot of RedKites and Buzzards around here. They did bring out a Sea Eagle with an 8ft wingspan, now that flying over your head was quite something
I saw a Condor gliding low over a field in California years ago. I first thought it was a man in a glider.
Wow, seeing a Condor would be pretty special :)
