A SEAGULL BY THE SEASIDE

It was a beautiful afternoon by the water. We had dolphins swimming right near us (who would not let us photograph them), then there was this friendly Seagull, who was more than happy to strike a pose.
Did you know there are around 50 species of gulls found around the world? They are omnivorous, and eat a wide variety of foods, from fish, insects, and mollusks to picnic leftovers, chips, and other trash.
They can drink either freshwater or saltwater, because of a gland above their eyes that helps regulate the ion and electrolyte balance in their blood, excess salt is then excreted through their nostrils.

They are intellegent birds, that are adaptable, and can adjust to different circumstances.
They do not only live in marine or coastal environments, some have been known to thrive in urban or suburban areas hundreds of miles from the coast.

The seagull looks exactly the same as they we have in Norway. Maybe the bird have escaped from the bad weather we have for the time being :-)

Hahaha, yes, a summer vacation.

He may have chance to reaches the week with nice weather north here
:D

They also like to snatch people's burgers or ice cream out of their hands. lol They are the real intelligent ones lol. Why wait for food to be dropped or left over when you can have the whole lot and fly off.

I have seen one find a whole sausage once, it ate it whole, there was no attempt to break it in pieces or anything, just swallowed it whole. It was disturbing to watch, I was concerned for its wellbeing, but it seemed fine. ( I didn't give the sausage to it by the way, it found it on its own.)

Oh my goodness!! He must have been really hungry.

They are cheeky buggers. There is a population in one part of my hometown, probably around 500+km away from the sea

Thats amazing! Shows how adaptable they are.
