Rabbits Don't Like Cuddling Their Kits?

in #animals6 years ago

Have you noticed that does (female rabbit) don't like cuddling their kits (baby rabbit) but only go close to them when it's time to breast feed them?

I notice the mum kick them away when they want to come close to her. This is usually because at 0 to 3 weeks the kits always go for the mum's breast once they notice her presence, this is because it is the kits main source of food at that age.

Does are know to instinctive, alert & protective of their kits in the wild. So ticking them away and staying a distance away from the kits is a way of drawing attention away from the kits.

So cuddling is not really their thing. But I noticed the kits have no problems with that, because they cuddle themselves a lot. They do this even at age 0 to 10 days, when their eyes are not open yet.

Kits always locate where others kits are and cuddle together.
