The 2008-2009 Champions League was the 54th version of this tournament, and the 17th season where the name of the tournament was changed from “European Cup” to “UEFA Champions League”. It was held between 16 September 2008 and 27 May 2009.

The final game of the tournament was held in Stadio Olimpico, Rome in 27 May 2009 between Manchester United and Barcelona.

The final score ended with a score of 2-0 for the Spanish giants Barcelona. It was their 3rd European title.

“Lionel Messi” from Barcelona was named the top goalscorer of the tournament, scoring 9 goals in 982 minutes played in the 2008-2009 UEFA Champions League.

On the other hand, “Xavi” from Barcelona was named top assister of the tournament with 7 assists in the 2008-2009 UEFA Champions League.
