UEFA Champions League - Part 55
The 2009-2010 Champions League was the 55th version of this tournament, and the 18th season where the name of the tournament was changed from “European Cup” to “UEFA Champions League”. It was held between 30 June 2009 and 22 May 2010.
32 clubs competed in the tournament. 125 matches were played with 318 goals scored. An average of 2.54 goals per match.
Four clubs were able to qualify to the semi-finals; Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Lyon and Barcelona. Four teams from the different continents of the world. One from each.
The final game of the tournament was held in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Madrid in 22 May 2010 between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.
The final score ended with a score of 2-0 for the Italian giants “Inter Milan”. It was their 3rd European title.
“Lionel Messi” from Barcelona was named the top goalscorer of the tournament, scoring 8 goals in 1033 minutes played in the 2009-2010 UEFA Champions League.
On the other hand, “Wesley Sneijder” from Inter Milan was named top assister of the tournament with 6 assists in 947 minutes played in the 2009-2010 UEFA Champions League.
