Have you come across an unforgettable place of visit in Shanghai?

I have as stated below:-

When we arrived at Shanghai Train Station at 6.20 AM on 24th June 2018, it is too early to catch a flight back to Malaysia which is scheduled at 3.00 PM. We have enough time to take a half day city tour to the popular "Chenghuang Temple" （上海老城隍庙). Don't be mislead by the name. Besides the historical temple, it is also a big complex that houses a Lotus plant pond with a wooden bridge build across, restaurant, food stores, souvenir stores and ample open space

As a matter of fact, our tour leader has planned for a short half day tour to the "Chenghuang Temple" 上海老城隍庙, a historic temple in China, Shanghai, Huangpu, Chenghuang Temple, Fangbang Middle Road. Click for Location Map

However, we focus on the food rather than the temple itself as we were hungry. We walk around looking for the restaurant that a few of our group members had the "xiao long bao" when they visited this place a year ago. We approached one of the main entrance to "Chenghuang Temple" 上海老城隍庙 which is the entrance to the complex rather than the temple.

Our mission was to look for the xiao long bao which was highly recommended by some of the group members who visited and tested this food last year. As I have posted in my earlier article, we did not find the restaurant which they visited.

Instead, we saw many other food stalls and restaurant after we had our breakfast. This particular restaurant had a long queue for the popular xiao long bao which I strongly believed this was the restaurant the tour leader has missed out. Just look at the queue of customers and you can be figured out how yummy is their food included the xiao long bao as the display on the board.

xiao long bao is not the only popular food in this Chenghuang Temple complex 上海老城隍庙, there are many other small portion Chinese cuisines for which, are prepared in a very special way. Most of the food store has nicely decorated display board as you can see from the picture above.

One unique characteristic of these stores is the chefs are there to prepare and cook the food at the storefront. You can actually witness how the chef prepare and cook those yummy and delicious Chinese cuisines. Most of the chefs are young people with well dress chef attire. It gives a confidence that they are professional chefs.

So much for a brief introduction of the food stalls in the complex. Below are photos of different types of food for your viewing:-

To be honest, I should not have taken 3 baskets of _xiao long bao_ ( shared with my friend ) until I was already full. I have no more appetite to take any more food although all of them looks so delicious and yummy. You should go through more of these food photos and you will know what I meant.

This is another form of bao which has a form of soup in it. There is a straw stud into the bao and I believed you need to such out the soup to taste the delicious preparation. I have not test it but I believed it is one of the most popular choices.ed
