+4 To Our 1001 Places to Remember Project Team! Hooray! We Still Need More Manpower, Come and Join Us

in #archisteem5 years ago

Hey Steemians,

EDIT.jpg

The @archisteem team is calling out to the Steemit community for help. We need an extra hand to help us with editorial works for the stories we had collected so far. Great milestones achieved as of today again! More than 600 stories listed for the project and more than 200 authors participated! The numbers will keep growing and this excites us to continue hustling.

The team has been working tirelessly to collect and curate stories from people from different countries and experience. During the curation process, we always at the lookout for stories that focus on these few components:

  1. Personal feeling during the trip
  2. Five senses expressions (what do you see, hear, smell, tasted and touched)
  3. Some interesting encounters during the trip
  4. Some useful tips for the trip

(Do note that we prioritize the first 3 components which are more personal and not generic like the fourth component whereby we can find it in many travel advice website.)

We are collaborating with different partners that include @aaronli’s #citystory, @funtraveller’s @photocircle, @steemitbloggers, @steemitworldmap and even @travelfeed! All of these initiatives have amazing stories contributed and all of them deserved to be empowered further. That is why we formed a collaborative relationship with them and try to curate as much as we could to list them into our project. As of now, we had curated more than 100+ stories from all of these initiatives (not counting those authors that uses our tag #archisteem with other tags like #citystory, #photocircle, #steemitbloggers, #travelfeed, #steemitworldmap and so on).

We are happy to welcome four new editors to our project team of 1001 Places to Remember! I would like to personally do an introduction on them and it is time for @archisteem to start featuring people on the page too! So here it goes:

bogdan.png

@vonaurolacu

A very passionate guy who offered his help when he saw my previous post on calling out for editors. Besides having his own business as a thermal insulation solutions supplier for a special industrial application (which interest me as I am always at the lookout for suppliers to learn more about building materials), he is also a journalist! Interesting to know that he was a blogger for a few years but had stopped for around 5 years before picking up again as he discovered Steemit. Guess that is what most of us are, a blogger in our heart but need some incentive.

His name is Bogdan and based in Romania (sorry for mix up with @manoldonchev of Bulgaria). Then, he proceeded to introduce about #steemromania whereby it is a team of Steemians form a curation team and aiming to empower the Romanian community. Even though the curation process may get very toiling, whereby they need to go through so many contents every day, the team still keep their momentum and help the community as much as possible. Lucky for them to have a dolphin to back them up which raise their support reward value to almost $1 for every supported post (ten times more than @archisteem current value!). There is just so many to learn from @vonaurolacu in terms of running curation team. Much more collaboration in the future, I believe.

fiona.png

@fionasfavourites

The first time I get to know Fiona, it gives me a feeling that she is a very friendly and bright person. Undeniably, after getting to know her more, I was impressed with her heart and passion for her life in McGregor, a western cape of South Africa. She was introduced to Steemit by her good friend @jaynie! (Hooray to @steemitbloggers family dominating the @archisteem project team). She has a deep background in the educational field and currently working on consulting work in writing and research for corporate and government. She had also fundraised for street children during her time in Johannesburg which to me is indeed a very dedicated person, aiming to help others.

Besides her daily consulting job and writing blogs, she also has her gig on cooking too! Utilizing her skill, she cooked for her community and even has her own garden! Like all of us here, thanks to Steemit, we are able to gather likeminded folks and work together on projects. One more thing from her is that she is truly a traveler in her blood as she has a long list in her bucket list which includes Malaysia (let me know when you are coming).

victor.png

@victorholyo

This is such a coincident that we both are from the same hometown and came from the same alma mater!! Chung Ling High School rocks! Never did I know I can meet someone from my old school in this blockchain realm and this excites me more as we can work on bringing more alumni into this part.

Victor is a copywriter and novelist who aims to publish his books soon! This experience of his could be very useful for the project team as we are producing publication as well. Not only that, being a writer has its flexibility to be able to work anywhere in the world. He had traveled to Canada and North America (Europe soon) which is a potential contributor to the project as well as a storyteller. It’s amazing to find that his family is very much close to architecture. His dad was an architect and his brother now is practicing under Snohetta (another wow from me as I always like their design approach). Although Victor is not under the same line as his dad and brother’s, he is still very fond of architecture especially during traveling as it takes up a big part of appraising a place. Guess there is some architect blood in him that makes design and structure entice him. Well, a lot more than we can talk about! Hope to meet you in person too :)

ireen.png

@ireenchew

Get to know @ireenchew through @teammalaysia whereby she is a very active member in the community and engaged with different projects (lucky for @archisteem to get her in the team). Her footprint on Steemit had covered a lot of initiatives like @steemitmamas which is a society for Mamas across the globe; @steemitbloggers which is again another awesome and engaging community started by @jaynie; @thealliance which is a community that help writers to write based on themes (just like how @archisteem started 1001 Places to Remember) and lastly, @curation group which is a community that strives to curate great posts and recommending it to the community.

In addition to that, she is in the tourism industry and proudly a mum of two sons. I can’t imagine how she can manage all these commitments, with so many roles to play! An admirable woman and the team feels more confident to have her on board! Going to catch up soon so that we can discuss more on the project!

This was the previous introduction of 2 other editors in our team :)

@clicked

By the name of @clicked, my first impression was that it relates to the clicking of camera as there are a lot of amazing photographs in his stories. Well, it turns out that @clicked really is into photography and also an avid adventurer who loves to explore hills. Admirably, he has a background of computer science engineering, a person with both logic and art under the skin! From our conversation, he introduced me about his current home, which is in Chandigarh, a union territory of India and Capital of Punjab.

By going through his photography, I can see that he explored a lot of places and he confessed that he is addicted to traveling. That would make him a very nomadic person :P Anyway, the project is a suit for him to tell his stories, which I am sure to be very interesting from such a travel addict. I am sure there are a lot more out there like him! Why not join us too?

manol.PNG

@manoldonchev

What I interpreted from his profile photo is that he is a serious guy. Never did I know that @manoldonchev work as a freelance photographer for a living! He shoots private and corporate events. From our conversation, I understand that he is a creator as he not only works on paid job but also on his own creation. He loves to explore photography, writing and even drawing! Very artsy guy. Quoting a statement from him:

I am a fan of art – all kind of art; and I find inspiration everywhere

This gives me a chill as I do admire people who can see arts everywhere and get inspiration from anywhere. That is pretty dope to me as being an architect, we need to be observant to capture all of these too. Not to forget, he also holds degrees in psychology and press media. What a guy!

Right after this, I found out that all of the comrades of the team are ‘travel addict’ who loves to explore and search for inspiration from different places and people. That aligns well with the belief of the project, 1001 Places to Remember. From a personal point of view, I do believe that all of us has a burning heart to see places beyond our comfort zone. It is just that whether we want to take a leap of faith and go out there to explore. With the realization of the project, we can put the world in the hand of the ‘travel addict to be’ and let them read about others’ experience. This is to encourage people to see the world differently through lenses of different culture and beliefs.

This was the previous introduction of 3 other editors in our team :)

@mattifer

Met with @mattifer around 2 months ago when she offered herself to join the editorial team for the project. We are so excited to have our first comrade teaming up and work together. I remembered that when she DM me to enquire about the editor role for the project, I was in cloud nine. After getting to know her more, we kickstarted our editing works last month. Frankly speaking, she is a proactive and helpful person which I find really reassuring to work with. She had raised up a few critical questions to help the team sort out on the framework for editorial work and this had helped the progression of the work.

Well, some intro about @mattifer, the name is a portmanteau of Jennifer and Matthew (coincidentally, I have one too Kimiji which is the portmanteau of me and my fiancée). They are both avid traveler who travel a lot, have yet to go through all her travelogues. They are both from the States, but I forget which state it is :P gonna catch up again on this. To be honest, she made a very good record for her trip. This is what the project, 1001 Places to Remember is trying to find and compile.

delish.PNG

@delishtreats

After working with @mattifer for a while, she suggested me to approach @delishtreats. I remembered that I dropped a comment on whether she is interested to join the team on a post she was featured on @steemitbloggers. Thanks to @jaynie for featuring so many talents all the while. After getting her contact on Discord and had a short discussion, she was ready to join the team! What a blessing to the team to have another awesome comrade on board.

She is another avid traveler and is based in Switzerland! She has a background of political science and corporate finance which are both looking at a very macro level of things. My friends who are in corporate finance get to travel a lot especially those in Big 4. That is part of my dream to travel and see the world with my partner too. That is why I am personally building a business that could be done globally so that I could travel and earn some bucks too. We had exchanged our background and ideas which we then found there is more collaboration to come in near future too! This is just amazing on how things evolve. Serendipity at its best! Not to forget that she is very diligent with her work and a detail person too as she had spotted points that the team had missed and highlighted to us. I am super grateful to have a comrade and friend like her!

eric.PNG

@eric-isaiah

Finally, @eric-isaiah who is also the best buddy of my best buddy, @cklai. They are currently collaborating on their own venture in agriculture and food. Eric is also working fulltime as a translator and transcriber. This just makes the editorial role suited for him naturally. I remembered that he approached me while I am chatting with @cklai on phone to catch up on our progress.

First, he is a Sabahan who is super friendly and passionate too. We met when my architecture gang traveled to Sabah for Mount Kinabalu hike last few months. During our trip, he drove us around the city to explore the delicious cuisine and culture of the place. He even brought us to some rural highland area to experience the exquisite boar meat! Holy moly, the taste of the char-grilled meat was heavenly.

Well, these are some brief introduction of our project team of 1001 Places to Remember for the Editorial role. We are still looking out for more passionate people to join us! Please contact me to know more about us and the works.

As of now, we had completed 70 stories, which is approximate 1/10 of the collected stories. Though the pace is still yet to be at an ideal pace, we are determined to push and accelerate day by day. So far, we had gone through 7 weeks with an average of 10 stories summarized per week. Below is a summary of our work done.

Wah big boss joining! My honor 😆

So proud of all our @steemitbloggers members that are a part of this fantastic team!!!

Oh yay, @jaynie. This only proves that how amazing @steemitbloggers is to have so many talented people. Lucky me to be part of this community, only I can get the chance to engage with them 😎

Such a great initiative and I know a few of the guys on the editorial team! Seen their posts and have to say the quality is high with their posts and always enjoy reading them.

Hopefully I can contribute a bit more to the cause before the end of the year too 🙂

Thanks @nickyhavey! True, there are a lot of quality writers and some are improving too. Sure you can, just remember to use our tag, #archisteem so that we can easily spot you and include your story in our project.

As long as we can all improve ourselves then that's the main thing and I will do my best to get a few more contributions in before the year is up! Hope you get there!

Posted using Partiko Android

Yup :) keep that momentum and I think we all need each other for encouragement. It really matters even with a simple concern and positivism. Really appreciate you, @nickyhavey and thanks for your support for @archisteem! Steem on.

I agree with you there! Steem on folks!
