Colours, Shadows And Contrast - Newcastle Architecture
The city of Newcastle, Australia, is a port town right on the beach.
It's seen a lot of expansion over the past 40 years with new apartment building being developed on expensive blocks of land that look over the ocean water. I like the design of some of these buildings, others are just an eye sore. I shot a few photos of the nicer buildings and put them in high contrast so they really pop, showing their designed lines and planned shadows that make them look unique at different times of day.
Thrown amongst the city however, are colourful remnants of an earlier time where detailed architraves were in. I think they give the newer buildings a run for their money in terms of aesthetic appeal. It's great how they contrast the shiny new glass apartments.
Each accentuate the beauty of the other.
I hope you enjoyed some of the architecture around Newcastle. It isn't quite in line with the mega structures of the world but for a little coastal city there are still gems to find as the sun sets!

Nice shots @harrynewman I like the perspective and of course the colors:) - size is always impressive but not the most important. I think more important is intention, if it fits the purpose, what kind of spirit is behind it and so on.
That’s exactly right. The style that inspired the design is often more impressive than the size. Bigger definitely isn’t better
