Architectural Photography: Assorted photos in Bangkok,

This is my entry for architecturalphotography contest hosted by @juliank.

This is the architectural design of the interior of Amarin Plaza, next to the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok. This used to be a very posh and expensive shopping center about twenty years ago when it was a Japanese owned shopping complex. The major economic upheaval some twenty years ago had reset several big stakeholders in real estate and properties in Bangkok, with the result of many unfinished building projects around the city. Some of those unfinished still remained deserted such as the 'Ghost Tower'. I particularly like the design of Amarin Plaza, it's kind of classic and reminds me of the good old days of promising expectations and prosperity. How sweet that period of exuberance still leaves me with a sense of longing! I would like to contrast old interior design with the exterior of relatively new architectural designs which seem too hard and contain very aggressive energy to me. I wonder how you feel about these designs.

Beautiful architecture, they look nice and calm.

They are calm on a calm day!! 😎

Thank you! Use iPhone!!

Lots of money gone down the drain!!
They should not have been so ambitious and greedy that they could not survive a bad situation!
A real waste!

Thank you very much!

The building on the first photo I liked it!
And all the others, in my opinion, are associated with emptiness.
As if these houses have long been abandoned and forgotten ..
I do not know, maybe I'm wrong ... and others have a different opinion.
But, like photos - great work!

The fist building was built during the time when people had lots of optimism and the economy was still very good!

The second photo has two buildings, the curved building was abandoned for about ten years before an investor took it over and finished building the tower, he turned it into a condominium and service apartments! The building next to it was built after the economic collapse so they economise on the design to save cost.

The third and fourth photos have newly buildings which are not very artistically design! It’s all about saving costs and making more profit. So these buildings look very square like boxes!! They started to use lots of glass walls to cut building time! But they didn’t think about the danger of earthquakes! All the glasses would be broken and fall down onto people’s heads!

The good old days of easy money and plenty of time are gone!

We are all in a hurry and we are getting less money from our work these days! I hope people will have more compassion and understanding during the difficult time ahead!

Yes, unfortunately you are right ...
It remains only to hope that everything will change for the better - someday ...

I agree with you, the architectural design of the interior of Amarin Plaza is beautiful indeed. I haven't visited there before. It seems that you went there very often. I think, I will go there one day! ;)

Please tell me when you are going there. If I happen to be around, I'll take you on a tour of the shops there!!

I often have lunch and dinner with friends there!

Ah! Thanks so much! That's really nice of you! ;)
