(Cheers and applause from the audience)

@daniel-otaniel: Hello guys, welcome to the studio, it's the #4 edition of the show and it just keeps getting more and more exciting, I've been having lots of fun and learning lots of new cultures for the past four weeks, I'm sure you have also. Today we going to Munich in Germany, and we have someone who's going to be showing us around, so join me as I welcome our guest for today, the vast talented and beautiful young man @naturicia

(Cheers and applause from the audience)

@daniel-otaniel: Welcome to the show, It's a pleasure to have you here @naturicia

@naturicia: Thanks for the invitation!

@daniel-otaniel: So tell us a bit about yourself and your steemit life.

@naturicia: I am naturicia and I came to Steemit in December 2017. I got a nice instruction about how things are working here so I am involved in @steemcleaners, @fundition, @steemflagrewards and some smaller projects and also contribute to various communities. In the real life I have finished high school and I'm heading forward to study at the university.

@daniel-otaniel: Nice prospect, Where are you from?

@naturicia: I am from the wealthy country in the middle of Europe: Germany

@daniel-otaniel: Nice, I should try introducing my country like that too.

@naturicia: yeah you should, so for a minute, let's switch places, let me be the one to ask the question.

@daniel-otaniel: Lol....OK, just one question

@naturicia: OK then, so tell us where you are from @daniel-otaniel

@daniel-otaniel: I'm from the most industrious black nation, a land of great people: Nigeria

@naturicia: nicely done

@daniel-otaniel: thank you Bro....in Nigeria, we Bros say 'chop knuckle' after doing cool stuffs, so @naturicia 'chop knuckle'

(cheers and applause from the studio audience as @daniel-otaniel and @naturicia fist punch each other)

@daniel-otaniel: (hahaha) so where precisely are you from in Germany

@naturicia: Munich. It is a city near the mountains.

@daniel-otaniel: So tell us about the place.

@naturicia: In Germany we complain and criticize a lot. We are a wealthy country but if you take a look at the people's opinion you wouldn't think that. Often I wish that we would appreciate more what we have and also share it with the rest of the world. When you are talking about Munich in detail the first thing you come across is that Munich is a lovely city. You can live here happily even with all the complaints. We are known for our beer (cheers to all beer lovers) which became kind of a national drug.

@daniel-otaniel: wow, guess it's not only Africans that complains, and cheers indeed to all the beer lovers. Let's check out the history of the great city of Munich, we would be back don't go no where.

Historical Background

image

Munich was founded (1158) by Henry the Lion, duke of Saxony and of Bavaria near a settlement (Munichen) that was established in Carolingian times. In 1255 it was chosen as the residence of the Wittelsbach family, the dukes of Bavaria and later became (1506) the capital of the dukedom. During the Thirty Years War, Munich was occupied (1632) by Gustavus II of Sweden. In 1806 the city was made capital of the kingdom of Bavaria. Under the kings Louis I (1825–48), Maximilian II (1848–64), and Louis II (1864–86), Munich became a cultural and artistic center, and it played a leading role in the development of 19th- and 20th-century German painting.

After World War I the city was the scene of considerable political unrest. National Socialism (Nazism) was founded there, and on Nov. 8, 1923, Adolf Hitler failed in his attempted Munich “beer-hall putsch”—a coup aimed at the Bavarian government. Despite this fiasco, Hitler made Munich the headquarters of the Nazi party, which in 1933 took control of the German national government. Michael Cardinal Faulhaber, the archbishop of Munich, was one of the few outspoken critics of the National Socialist regime. In Sept., 1938, the Munich Pact was signed in the city; in 1939 Hitler suppressed a Bavarian separatist plot there. Munich was badly damaged during World War II, but after 1945 it was extensively rebuilt and many modern buildings were constructed.

Generally the sky line of Munich is not very high for the reason that the height limit on buildings (logically) was limited to the height of the fire engines of the day. As you look across the Munich skyline, church spires dominate. In 1973 it hosted the Olympic Games for which were built the Olympic stadium, and also the underground system. Munich remains the capital of Bavaria, and is where German chancellor candidate Edmund Stoiber has his seat of power.

@daniel-otaniel: welcome back guys, so much to take from that history. What are the things you blog about on steemit?

@naturicia: I rarely blog. I work most times behind the scenes. When I write something it is normally either about a science topic or about an issue on Steemit.

@daniel-otaniel: seems to me you are always busy

@naturicia: not really

@daniel-otaniel: if you say so. If you were to show me around Munich, where do we go?

@naturicia: You can just get in touch with the "reak feel" if you get in touch with the people. I recommend to visit the town centre where you can visit old buildings and big markets. If you want to have it more silent you can go to the park named 'Englischer Garten' or to our botanic garden which contains lots of different plants.

@daniel-otaniel: that seems nice, let's check out these places, we would be back.

@daniel-otaniel: wonderful sites out there. So what's your real name?

@naturicia: you mean in real life?

@daniel-otaniel: of course in real life (hahaha)

@naturicia: OK. Noah

@daniel-otaniel: Nice name you got. What meal is most popular in Munich?

@naturicia: Munich is an international city. You can find the food of different cultures there. But traditionally, it would be a white sausage with pretzel.

@daniel-otaniel: sounds nice, how often do you eat white sausage with pretzel?

@daniel-otaniel: Not really often. I normally eat a mixture of different things. Sometimes noodles, sometimes pizza or sometimes indian food.

@daniel-otaniel: just exactly how we do here in Nigeria, we love mixtures, let's check out these delicious meals

@daniel-otaniel: welcome back guys, we still have @naturicia with us. Those meals look delicious and tasty.

@naturicia: they don't just look delicious, they also taste delicious.

@daniel-otaniel: I'm sure they do. What's the inspiration behind your steemit username

@naturicia: I thought about the content I'd like to produce in the beginning and created the name out of this. It consists of nature and the name of a god (which god still stays secret). During my time on Steemit I was informed about the pokemon Natu so there is no relation to this.

@daniel-otaniel: haha...you can tell me the god though, it would remain a secret.

@naturicia: nah...I don't think so

@daniel-otaniel: OK then, what customs or traditional festivals do they practice in Munich?

@naturicia: we have quite a bunch of small festivals and with the october festival been the biggest one, which attracts more than six million visitors per year.

  • Oktoberfest
    Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair). Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Locally, it is often called the Wiesn, after the colloquial name for the fairgrounds, Theresa's meadows (Theresienwiese). The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since the year 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations that are modeled after the original Munich event.

During the event, large quantities of Oktoberfest Beer are consumed: during the 16-day festival in 2013, for example, 7.7 million litres (66,000 US bbl) were served.[1] Visitors also enjoy numerous attractions, such as amusement rides, sidestalls, and games. There is also a wide variety of traditional foods available.

@daniel-otaniel: that's huge, who are your favorite musicians?

@naturicia: I don't really have a favorite musician. I listen to the music which fits to me emotions and they can change every day at any time. I really don't have any favourite song. I listen to spotify up to 16 hours a day. I listen to lots of songs, so it's hard to chose a favorite.

@daniel-otaniel: I listen to lots of songs too, but not on spotify (haha) you said you listen to the song that fits your emotions, so what type of song fits your emotions currently?

@naturicia: Rooftops of Marshmello

@daniel-otaniel: great song, what will you say to someone who just moved to Munich?

@naturicia: Get in contact with your neighbors. Living happily together makes much more fun. They can also show you some places in the city you'd have never found without them.

@daniel-otaniel: thanks for those tips. What was the coolest thing you did as a child?

@naturicia: there was this time, while on a trip to Egypt. We made a boat trip and I could see the corals and beautiful fishes in the sea. It was so cool.

@daniel-otaniel: wow, a trip to Egypt! Seems you travel alot. Have you been to Nigeria before?

@naturicia: I travel across Germany, but rarely outside Germany and I've never been to Nigeria.

@daniel-otaniel: you should visit sometime.

@naturicia: I will, though for this summer my holidays are already planned, but soon I'll come.

@daniel-otaniel: planned holiday! Where you going

@naturicia: Costa Rica, Denmark, Sweden and Finland

@daniel-otaniel: wow, that's cool, you living the life Bro. After you back, we would definitely be having you back in the studio with us to tell us all about your trip.

@naturicia: it's all on a low cost, and I will be glad to come by the studio when I'm back by September.

@daniel-otaniel: lastly, what do you do for steemcleaners?

@naturicia: I moderate their Discord server and help other users out by answering their questions. Additionally I report any abuse I find. Abuses like Plagiarism, Copy & Paste, ID Theft, Spam, and so on

@daniel-otaniel: nice, it would be an honor to have you again, thanks for coming Noah.

@naturicia: I probably forget to mention, in Munich the time is GMT +2

@daniel-otaniel: that's nice, in Nigeria it's GMT +1

@naturicia: Yeah, you are underneath us on the map (haha)

@daniel-otaniel: (hahaha) that has nothing to do with it

@naturicia: it has, time goes from the left to the right, or the other way round.

@daniel-otaniel: really!!! You not even sure?

@naturicia: (haha) well then tell me how it works then

@daniel-otaniel: I don't know as well (hahaha) before you go we have a little something for you

image

@naturicia: hahaha...this is nice, thanks

@daniel-otaniel: so ladies and gentlemen, we've come to the end of this segment, hope you guys had fun, Noah has been cracking me up so much, and I hope it was informative as well. Do stick around as we bring you headlines from #aroundtheworld.
