Reaching out to the stars for humanity will mean colonising new planets, although how many would be habitable for humans. Giant ships will be needed to transport everything that will be needed to create a sustainable ecosystem on new worlds. In many science fiction stories colony ships are part of expanding humanities reach as we enter space, from cryogenic frozen settlers to terraforming engines to transform planets.
Everything needed to do this will have to be transported on one ship, the giant Colony ships.
I suggest we send lawyers, PR advisors, politicians, and managers first, to prepare the way.
And then go somewhere else.
