AS TIME GOES BY

Oswald Armbuster gave a disgruntled sigh,
He was deeply thinking, as time did go by.
Yes, time seemed to pass so much more quickly,
If one felt poorly, or even sickly.
“You’d think it would be to the contrary,”
“Time dragging along, if you didn’t feel merry.”
“But, never-the-less, time did seem to fly.”
Each day seeming to pass like a twinkle in your eye!

Oswald was off, to meet Dwayne and Narelle.
Dwayne was a brain, he knew Narelle well.
Three score and ten, that’s seventy years.
Quite a long time, could calm all your fears.
But there you have it, without any doubt,
Seventy years, has time nearly run out?
“No, we won’t have any of that!”
“Time cannot pass, like the drop of a hat!”
“Keep from counting, having such care,”
“There’ll be much more time, if only you’re there!”
“Be of good faith, know you’re not beat!”
“Stand up straight, on your own two feet!”

Oswald Armbuster said to his reflection,
“I still look good, despite life’s deflection.”
“But I can’t seem to shake an irresistible urge,”
“To spend the rest of my days in an irresponsible splurge.”
“Of course such splurge might be limited through money’s lack,”
“If it gets out of hand, I can be given the sack!”
“Fired for improper behaviour, that’s true!”
“Then I’ll be between jobs, out in the blue!”
