Concerns First Lady peripheral antics
All First Lady’s have a personal behest,
The current one’s pet project is “Be Best”.
Now “Being Best” is a goal most worthy.
Good counsel for those who are nervy,
For those inclined to accept an inferior place,
“Be Best” implies that they’re a disgrace.
Now, we don’t want to sound at all absurd.
But the very definition of the word,
“Best” implies a singular achievement,
Any others in the running a disappointed bereavement.
Perhaps “Be Better” might not so exclude others,
Avoid the unnecessary saddening of mothers.
Disappointed that their progeny don’t make the grade,
Inherently not being of “Be Best” material made.

Cable news showed the First Lady on an Africa Tour,
Dressing High Fashion, not at all dour.
A Sola Topi, a pith helmet, now highest fashion,
Topped off a magnificent outfit with passion.
Of course, Sola Topis stem from Colonial days,
When “Being Best” wasn’t a realistic craze.
In fact, even “Being Better” was hard to achieve.
Not something weak people found easy to believe.
Colonialism was once the call of the hour,
Exploitation of backward peoples by a large power.
But, never mind that they have now caught up,
And are toasting in their own Clubs with a Colonial Cup.
The fact is that “Being Best” is still not necessarily within their grasp.
Although progress towards it could make one gasp!
Always remember, Be Best! Have high hopes!
To be better than all other dopes.
