Mavis Moriaty was aged for certain,
She said to her friends, “I’m not hurtin’”
“But if I start to act peculiar, please let me know,”
“Old folks sometimes act peculiar, gaga they can go.”
People did listen, with most close attention,
But pretty well all were too a’feared to mention,
That Mavis acted most peculiar every day,
She acted oddly peculiar in every way!

Mavis was out, in the street, “cussin’”.
She was tired of attention, all that fussin’”.
“I’m right as rain,” she did loudly declare.
People would shake their heads, if they did dare.
“Why’s you shakin’ yore head like that?”
“Nothink wrong with what’s under my hat!”
She meant that there was nothing wrong with her brain,
But she was muddled, again, and again.

“Young folk think they know it all,”
“Their know-it-all behaviour does appal.”
“When I was a girl, just after the war,”
“Folks were the poorest, you ever saw.”
“Many modern things had not been invented,”
“But still we were happy and quite contented.”
“Self-discipline was so much more apparent.”

Mavis was cranky with children in her street.
“They ride their skateboards right over my feet!”
“I’ll give their parents a good piece of my mind.”
“Gotta be careful, ensure there’s some left behind!”
So she rallied and ranted at them,
Told them off right royally, her ire did stem.
“I’ve had enough of your brat’s behaviour.”
“Another skateboard event, they’ll need a saviour.”
