BEASTLY TALES

THE FIDGET

A tap of the toe, drumming the finger,
Signs manifesting stress, that does linger.
Repetitive, involuntary motions, not making sense.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder immense!
Stress, omnipresent and absolutely free,
All it costs is one’s equanimity!
Evenness of mind, composure, calm and collected, too,
All on the run, as tapping toes, drumming fingers, one does pursue.
A wink of the eye, multiple blinks all at once.
Make the poor victim look much like a dunce!

Repetitive behaviour, symptomatic of stress and strain,
Causes the victim to sing a most unfortunate refrain!
Fidgeting, a restless state with spasmodic movement.
To move restlessly, to make uneasy, in need of improvement.
One who fidgets might be inserted upside down in a wheelie bin
For compostable matter, retribution for his sin.

Oscar Wormcaste was a fidgeter by nature,
Long-boned and gangly in his stature.
When conversing at length with anyone,
He would jig his crossed legs as though it was fun.
Up and down his foot went, for minutes at a time,
Why such foot jigging? Neither reason nor rhyme.
Another favourite activity of which he was able,
Was to incessantly drum his fingers on any table,
As he conversed, droning on and on,
Resulting in his audience wishing him gone!
Successively drumming from little finger to fore finger in succession,
Sounded like a fast moving horse, in a procession.
Eventually, one of his listeners committed the cardinal sin,
Of having him deposited, upside down, in a compost wheelie bin!
