Sketchbook - Pointillism #6 - Carnet de croquis - Pointillisme N°6

in #art5 years ago (edited)

Hello! / Bonjour !

A new page from the sketchbook:

This sixth one started as some kind of little sort-of-a-gargoyle-styled creature, but has expanded in something... which is not a gargoyle-styled thing.
Work has been interrupted by some unexpected coffee spilling, but hopefully, only a corner of that page was hit, the rest of the sketchbook is safe.

That's all for today !

Have fun, and take care :)

C'est tout pour cette fois !

Amusez-vous et portez-vous bien ;)

Sort:

Interesting circles :). Are you done with this sketch or will you continue working on it?

I would have gone further without the paper being so curly and moving under my pen after its coffee wash. That base was calling for more fine tuning in its greyscales.

With usual drawing methods, that wouldn't be a problem, but with pointillism, at a so small scale, that makes the work too unacurate.

Maybe after some time pressed in the closed sketchbook it will be more docile, but for now, another page of will have to suffer a million fineliner punches :D

Yesssss, make those papers suffer!!! :D

Love this, Pascal, I think I can see a machinations of some sort, maybe an automaton gargoyle in the making?

Im glad the coffee spill didn't ruin the entire paper ! I look forward to seeing the journey for this piece <3

Thanks a lot :)
Not sure if it will be continued, but for now I've clamped the small sketchbook between two wooden planks. I'll see if it's enough to make the page workable again :)

Aaah............. well, every piece has its own destination :) I guess we'll see if the page is still workable :D :D :D

Great work. That coffee stain you mentioned... sometimes random things like this turn out to have great results, perhaps you can post it whole if it is nice?

The whole picture is here, but the stain is not too visible after I had to readjust luminosity curves (original photo was very dark...)

The stain in itself isn't very interesting : no fancy splashes, just a round brown patch. I played a bit with it by surrounding it with that circled pattern in the right bottom corner before ending the work.

The main problem was from the paper curling up due to humidity... That's not practical at all when punching myriads of dots on a that kind of small surface :D
