This is an Urban Dynamic style icon commission for Lanepaws on Twitter. He was interested in my icon so he wanted one too and I happily obliged to do one for him.

Canvas Prep/Rough Sketch
Layers Used:
Canvas Background layer
Rough Sketch layer
Prep the canvas background with a neutral color like grey. Draw in a rough sketch of the character.
Fine Sketch
Layers Used:
Fine Sketch layer
Then sketch in a finer sketch over the roughs.
Lineart
Layers Used:
Foreground Folder -> Lineart layer
After client approval after seeing the WIP at this point, I go on ahead with the linearts.
Base/Primary Color
Layers Used:
Foreground Folder -> Base/Primary Color layer
Use the contiguous "wizard" tool to select all areas outside the character's parameters, invert the selecetion, then fill the selected area with the primary color of the character.
Detail Color
Layers Used:
Foreground Folder -> Detail Colors Folder -> (Folder's color layers)
Add the character's other color details.
Background/Final Check/Final Result
Layers Used:
Canvas Background layer
Outline layer
(Various layers)
To add in the white outline, select the base color in the base color layer with the wizard tool (set on Limit to Current Layer option and the Grow/Shrink Selection set to 15), then in the outline layer, fill the area with white color. Then add in a gradient background.
Check over the drawing for errors and then we are done!
