Today we will go back a little in time until the middle of last century where I live a great artist of Spanish surrealism, whose work was immortalized in dozens of exhibition and private collections being recorded as one of the best artists of the aforementioned art, I'm talking about Maria de Los Remedios Varo Uranga better known as Remedios Varo. María de Los Remedios Varo Uranga was born in Anglés - Spain 1908 and grew and developed artistically in Madrid, at the time she was born it was not common for women to study arts, so she is considered the first female student of the art academy of San Fernando - Spain and was just 16 years old at that time, even before entering the academy Remedios Varo had already been in contact with art.

At the same time, he had contact with and developed a special relationship with artists such as Lorca and Dalí, especially with Dalí with whom he studied in the last year of class. Then he settles in Barcelona where he actively participates in surrealist movements such as the Catalan group Logiobofista in 1940 settles in Paris but just coincided with the Second World War and the Germans capture him but a year later he manages to escape and flees to Mexico where he meets other French artists such as Leonora Carrington, Gunther Gerzso.

Although his recognition was late in painting he could never live off this trade so his work was dedicated to writing, theater stage designs including costumes and props, tragically died at age 55 from a heart attack in Mexico.

His works were always linked to his life and family experience, because in the family there were relatives who had the same heart problems, even his name Remedios is because the family developed a healing mysticism through the names, so he dedicated much of his creativity to develop them in the field of surrealism coding and to give meaning to their most intimate experiences.

Some characteristics of the surrealism developed by Remedios is the androgynous character of the characters, strange forms in the features that he used recurrently as eyes with almond shapes and of extra earthly appearance, besides employing little-used poses, and in general with a symbolic and mystical atmosphere.

He moves to his paintings of sublime characters endowed with a certain conscious androgynousness, populated by entities with almond-eyed and ethereal appearance. The symbols and hidden elements, with clear allusions to the Arcana of the Tarot, are a constant presence in his paintings with characters that emerge from the colors in unusual attitudes: contemplative, dreamlike, passive bearers of an extremely symbology.
