Hi Steemit family!

Cartier-Bress are the father of photojournalism

We continue with the best of the universal photography, this art at the beginning was not very well seen or only analyzed as a rarity of the technology of the time, many critics assured that the photography was nothing but a chemical and physical contraption and that it had little or no relation with the art. For they were wrong just as the cinema at first photography was seen as something to explore and become a novel fact that in a short time would disappear. And on the contrary, photography began to be used artistically and with it would open the paths that would lead to today where we have a large number of formats and photographic styles. One of the greats in photography was Cartier-Bresson who we will be talking about today. Join me to learn more about the life and work of this incredible artist.

Cartier-bresson is known as one of the most important photographers of the 20th century, he is one of those in charge of developing the photoreportage, in his postulates are "capturing the decisive moment" would be the beginning of his elaborated photographic theory.

Born in France in the city of Chanteloup in 1908, his beginnings were marked by painting and late literature at the prestigious university of Cambridge. It was in 1931 when he bought his first used camera while in Ivory Coast, and then acquired a Leica camera from which he did not separate and became his faithful friend.

From the moment he began to photograph he realized the importance of capturing each moment, especially the very fact of being before moments that would never be repeated, which is why he defended the photographic moment as the most valuable thing in his life and the lives of others. One of the things in which he opposed was the cutting of negatives as this altered reality.

That's why he focused his life on establishing the bases for documentary photography and photo-reportage. By the time he lived it was very useful for him to experiment with the Second World War and the Spanish Civil War.

His experience at that time allowed him to photograph figures of political and artistic power such as Fidel Castro, Picasso, Che Guevara, Mao, Ghandi, who travelled almost all over the world in search of the best moments. He was in the Soviet Union after Stalin's death.

He worked hand in hand with photographers such as Robert Capa and founded the Magnum agency, where they managed to capitalize on some of the most impressive photographs of the last century.

Although he retired from photography in the 1970s to pursue his other passion, painting, he was awarded the Hasselblad Foundation's International Prize in 1982. In 2004 he died leaving behind an important photographic legacy that could well serve to tell the most important stories of the past century.

This is how one of the most important genres of the planet was formed, present in the chairs of journalism, social communication and photography, where students learn about these theories that were applied last century giving strong criticism and solidity to photography as a valuable tool to interpret our culture.
